its a fun trail, some pretty hard spots especially if the rocks are wet and you dont have a locked truck, and a few good size ledges. once your at the lake there are some sweet views and camping spots. its not like the con or fordyce, but still worth the trip out there.

hell hole directions from hwy50 and hwy80

HERE IS A MAP FROM THE WHY80 DIRECTIONS http://www.mapquest.com/directions/m...hill&2s=CA&2z= Coming from sac on hwy 80: this is from map quest i have never been this way 1: Start out going NORTHWEST on AUBURN FOLSOM RD toward LINCOLN WAY. <0.1 miles 2: Turn RIGHT onto LINCOLN WAY. 0.3 miles 3: Turn LEFT onto HIGH ST / CA-193 / CA-49. Continue to follow CA-193 / CA-49. 2.7 miles 4: Turn RIGHT onto CA-49 / CA-193 / COLOMA RD. 3.6 miles 5: Turn LEFT onto CA-193 / GEORGETOWN RD. Continue to follow CA-193. 12.1 miles 6: Turn LEFT onto MAIN ST. 0.5 miles 7: MAIN ST becomes WENTWORTH SPRINGS RD. 22.0 miles 8: Turn LEFT onto NF-2 4.7 miles 9: NF-2 becomes ELEVEN PINES RD. 16.1 miles 10: ELEVEN PINES RD becomes HELL HOLE RD. 8.2 miles 11: End at Hell Hole Reservoir: Foresthill, CA US ( stop at the ranger station on the left) there will be a left 10ft after the station that is where the trail starts directions coming from sac on hwy 50 1. hwy 50 east 2. exit N shingle rd turn left at light 3> turn right on to N shingle rd 4. N shingle turns into Lotus RD 5.go for a while, you will come to the american river and dead end into hwy 49 Turn Left 6. come to the stop light and turn right onto marshal rd. ( towards georgetown) 7. you will come to georgetown and turn right on main st. 8. mainstreet turns into wentworth springs rd. travel for a bit, you will pass stumpy meadowns on your right.......keep going until you see NF 2 rd. there will be a sign saying hell hole reservoir. 9. this road (NF2) turns into eleven pines rd. 16.5 miles 10. eleven pines rd becomes hell hole rd. 8.2 miles 11. from there you will see the ranger station on the left i will be there in my grey 1983 pickup truck. Sounds like the trailhead is only a few miles from the rubicon. Are you going saturday or sunday or both? Sounds like fun but I have some stuff going on Saturday. If you are heading up Sunday I would like to tag along.

cool well im heading up tomorrow morning, im sure it wil lbe just a day trip. i will be at the ranger station at 1030 am. if anyone has a problem getting there call 530 306 0035
