Pretty hard to use dogs after 40-50 people have been through the same area. Dog's always should go first if possible.

good luck guys

From the Paradise Post:

Reward offered in Harvey case

By Rick Silva
Posted: 12/02/2010 01:00:00 AM PST

Loren Harvey, Jr.
The family of a missing Paradise man is asking for the public's help in locating him.

The Paradise Police Department announced Wednesday morning that the family of Loren Wayne Harvey Jr, is "prepared to pay $10,000, for information leading to the location" of the 41-year-old Harvey. The Paradise resident has been missing since late in the afternoon on Oct. 15 when he left his home in his white 2001 Dodge quad cab truck.

Paradise Police Lt. Al Billington said Harvey was last seen at the end of Lofty Lane in Paradise. Billington said he was reportedly having a beer on the tailgate of his truck with a Lofty Lane resident. Another neighbor told police he at first thought Harvey was dumping garbage in the area, until he saw him on the tailgate. Billington said yesterday the resident Harvey was with didn't know where Harvey was headed after that.

On Oct. 19, Mr. Harvey's wife contacted the Paradise Police Department to report him missing and five days later, police say four persons who were driving a four-wheel drive above Whiskey, found what later turned out to be Harvey's vehicle that was stuck. The truck was on a dirt trail from the V-Line near Coutolenc Road. The road allows drivers to get around a gate and back onto the V-Line road.

"You need to walk up 200-300 yards from the road to see the truck," Billington said. "(Harvey) or whoever was driving, was trying to bypass the gate."

Billington said the truck was stuck and the angle of the truck was forcing the diesel gas to run down. "It virtually ran out of gas," he said. "Trying to get unstuck."

Paradise Police and Butte County Sheriff deputies responded to the area with Search and Rescue, which searched the area for nine days, but he was not located. Officials are confident that Harvey was driving the truck at the time because of evidence found in the truck.

"His wallet and everything was together where it normally is," Billington said.

Since the search, several interviews have been conducted, but no leads have developed to find the missing man. Billington said that while they haven't ruled out foul play in the case, police don't have any evidence of it having a role in his disappearance. Anyone with information can provide it directly to the Paradise Police Department at (530) 872-6241, or through the Tip Line: 895-7611.

Just curious. Is this a region common to Mexican mafia marijuana growing? Carry a gun if you go alone anywhere in our forests. Did he commonly carry a gun?

guess this post is about to be forgotten

I grew up in concow, and know every road between there and paradise magalia and sterling city
a buddys truck broke down up there once and we had to walk for 5 hours in the snow to get up sterling city.

personally I think there is foul play,
if i go to get help, after getting my rig stuck, Im GONNA take my wallet with me.
to get gas or to pay someone to help me.

if anyone wants to do a search of the area ill help, but in that area there will need to be 100 people +just to cover roads and trails

There was a massive search conducted as soon as the rig was found. They only gave up because search and rescue can only give a certain amount of effort and time before they have to call it. I'm not in Paradise now, but am from there and have camped there twice since he went missing. After the search turned nothing up, it's hard for me to believe he's there. But who knows.
