One thing I'd like to know is how much fuel he left with that day , I am assuming allot . Because the truck was empty when it was found more or less . Leads me to re-think my original thoughts , I am guessing the truck ran 200 miles or so in between , and possibly was left as a decoy . Jess

Skeletal remains, including a skull, were found by a hiker Sunday near the border between Tehama and Butte counties, Tehama County sheriff’s deputies reported today.

The age of the remains is unknown.

Deputies said the hiker reported finding the bones around 8:34 a.m. in a rural area off Highway 32 near Deer Creek.

The remains are to be forensically tested to try to determine the person’s identity and the cause of death, deputies said

This isnt that far off from truck location. Definitly be one to watch and see. I live right next to Lorens Mother In Law, and its a sad reminder to talk to his boy occasionally and think what he must be going through.


EDIT: Butte/Tehema county line and HWY 32 Deer creek covers alot of area but its all pretty close to Butte meadows which is right over the hill from where the truck was found.

Even as the crow flies, that is 15 miles or so isn't it? Traversing several canyons?

Sure, I dont think it was covered in an hour, but it is still in the very near vicinity. Hiking I cover 15+ miles a day while on no trail, 25+ on a trail with decent elevation loss/gain.

I was just pointing it out mainly for the folks watching from out of the area that may not realize how close in proximity the 2 sites are.

Man I keep going over the map and thinking about this -It does seem like a long way - If I was to pack a back pack and walk from the truck to near that location I am thinking in good weather 1 day min. , Now factor in his leg and that could be double . The more I concider the distance and the shape he was in the more It seems not so do-able . The time and not knowing is going to kill me .

Jess, I'm really torn here; I hope that he'll just turn up one day, and start the story with a "Y'all ain't gonna believe this...". It would just be nice to know for sure.
