It's probably been 4-5 years since I've been there, but I've always told folks that it's the "Biggest Hillbilly Shit-Show" I've ever seen.

I drove by Idaho's Finest with a beer in hand, driving a 3rd Gen w/o doors and all they said was to keep it under 15 MPH.

Haven't seen many pics from my friends on FB, I'm kinda dissapointed in that! It was always a good time.

I agree, but Rome wasn't built in a day. Look how long it's taken to get where it is today- about ten years. I think for most people that Moyie is just a big social event, an excuse to get wasted. The "off roading" has become secondary.

Yes there have been some changes to the creek run over the last couple years which has made it better for that section ..I would think that being a rock quarry it wouldnt be to hard to pile some rocks some where to offer a hardcore type of rock crawl section some where in the open to avoid the cluster fawk that the creek turns into when it gets plugged or bottlenecked..

As for the people that have slowly turned this event into there weekend party/social event ..you know the ones that pile everyone they know into thier suburban or mommas car show up raid and steal shit from other camps so they have the proper gear to camp for the weekend then when its all over they load up in thier rig leaving the stolen camping gear behind ..FAWK THEM!!!! there is a way to weed them out without ruining the event

Another thing I have noticed is the event seems to be leaning to the rockcrawlin/trail type of rigs ..the ratio of rockcrawl / trailrigs VS mudrigs is changing and there needs to be something more to offer to them..my .02

If there wasn't the social component, I probably would not go. And if I did, I gaurantee I wouldn't get near the enjoyment out of it! I will admit, there have been times I just loaded up the motorhome and went just for the social part of it. Like everyone else, I paid my $25. I'm law abiding while there and pick up my campsite when I leave, so I can do what ever the hell I want after getting there.

...I know your comment isn't directed towards me personally, but this is my position. If someone shows up, pays the entry fee, abides by all of the laws/rules, cleans up when they leave, what does it matter what they do while there??

I had a great time up the creek this year after Ben 'upgraded' it. Yup, got stuck once and had to winch myself. Yup, busted a 35 spline cromo shaft. Yup, killed ~$75 in hard alcohol by myself. Yup, had a blast.

I can agree with that. I first went to Moyie in 2005 when I first came to Idaho, and it was the Fall Bog. It was pretty cool and there wasn't a lot of drunken idiots. I went back in 2008 in Spring, and couldn't stand it. It's become a hillbilly beerfest for sure.

Such a shame.
