Trail between Madras and Prineville
Wondering if anyone has any information about a trail in the canyon on the east side of hwy 26 between madras and prineville. Roughly 10-15 miles south east of Madras. Anyone been or heard of it?

I just got back from there yesterday. It's a really challenging area. Big axles, big tires, low gearing, hydraulic steering, a stout cage, and lots of burly skid plates. Yes it is public. It got closed for a bit but the deschutes county 4wheelers got it reopened. Pics?...Some of the usual suspects here. There are a bunch a photos around.

The place you are all talking about is not the same. If you are saying it is 10-15 miles out of madras it would be a different canyon. Those links above are for a trail near millican ORV park (5 miles west of prineville). It is for the most part open but not considered a trail. BLM land as far as I have been told.
I think I know of the one you might be talking about. I have seen a quad trail down there or something. Looks like it is private land but I dont know for sure. |

yeah its swartz, the deschutes county 4wheelers seem to know whats up in the area, they have a few trail reports on their site.
there is alot of blm land up there but i wouldnt suggest just going and running around on any rocks you find just cause its blm.
