Central Washington University

So i will be moving over to Ellensburg in the fall to go to school at CWU, just curious if anyone on here currently goes there or will be attending this fall, and if anyone around there wouldn't mind showing me around moon rocks and funny rocks and any other fun spots...thanks all!

Jordan

Next year will be my 5th year at Central. Funnyrocks and Moonrocks are only a short drive but usually close for snowmobiles end of November. There are lots of other local wheelin spots open though. Last winter I went snow wheelin almost every weekend. I have a pretty well outfitted garage and I can show you around the the school machine/ welding shops too if you experience some carnage. Send me a PM with your number and I would be happy to show you some spots. -Josh

Thanks a lot Josh, I was going to try and find some shop space over there to bring my tools to wrench on my shit but if the school doesn't mind letting you use their welders for personal use then i'll leave my welder at home.

No problem. The instuctors let you work on small projects if you clean up real well and dont use a ton of consumables. The unwritten rule is that you can work on anything you can carry in by hand and take out at the end of the day. My roomates and I have welders/ fab tools also. I was actually up at Reiter for memorial, had an awesome time. I will give you a jingle ahead of our next trip.

that sounds like a pretty good deal with the instructors, my brother is an ME at UW and they don't have nearly that much freedom in the shop. Im up at reiter just about every other weekend, so just give me a shout and we'll get a good run going.

Got many many friends attending there starting and have been for the past 2 years!! I make the trip over once a month for a week of wheeling

Anytime you want a wheeling buddy or need a shop to work on your truck, let me know!!! I'm good at fab work and my buddy has a huge shop he lets me use anytime I roll over there

Names Arenn McDonald by the way pm for more details if you want but I will be heading over the end of august to help some friends move into a new house and go wheeling for a couple of days

Im am from Ellensburg born and raised. Manashtash has great trails like shoestring. Recer isn't bad, if you like playing in snow in the winter go up the back side of mission ridge. If you wana go camping and take an hour drive go up to rimrock lake and there are lots of great trails up there. Naches has some good trails too. I have a map of some different areas i can send u if u want? What kinda rig do u have? That will make a lot of difference where u go. You can go up samala sack area and they have some good trails and camping spots. If you have any questions let me know

Sounds like next summer will be awesome with all the people showing up in Ellensburg with 4X4's!

Check out the local off road club site if you get a chance: http://www.aworc.com and their off road forums that have lots of info about local trails and events: http://www.aworc.com/phpBB/index.php

A good spot to get a map at is at the Cle Elum Ranger Station, they are not too far off the highway in Cle Elum. I think they were $5, but it has been about 3 years since I bought one. To be honest I have never really used them except as posters. The local trails are in both Naches and Cle Elum ranger districts so ideally you would have one for each.

Also, I would reccomend having either an ORV tag or current tabs/ insurance as I was hasseled pretty bad last time for not having one or the other (trailered rig). My local buddies tell me its rare but the Sherrif went out of his way to may sure I got it done.
