Idaho??

Snow season?
Does all of Idaho get snow? Or just the higher elevation areas?

Never traveled up that way before and the wife and I are thinking of taking a drive that way in mid April time frame.

Just wondering what to expect as for driving conditions.

North Idaho
Hwy 90 East from Wash. to Couer D Alene area

Or

South Idaho
95 North from 84 up into McCall area

I live in California and have family in Oregon so we may head to Oregon first then over to Idaho to check out that area.

Any info would be great!
Thanks
Burt

i live near cda. yes we have snow here!!! snow is really hit or miss. 2 years ago in april it was 60 degrees and beautiful. last year we had 4 feet on the ground and got over a foot of new snow in april. the farmers almanac predicts this april to be mild, so you should be fine. the boise area should be beautiful in april, but i would guess mccall is like us, volatile at best! any other questions???

Do you drive that Hwy 95 much?
Is it slow going or 55mph plus type road when weather is not an issue?

Thanks for you time!

Hwy 95 is usually 55mph most any time of year. There can be exceptions.
Boise to McCall is rarely bad in April. Pretty drive. The road mostly lays in the valleys.

depends how you wish to drive it. the more scenic route is up the gut of idaho on hwy95. it will take an honest 8+ hours. if you drive through oregon on the freeway it is safer weather wise and you can drive 80...but it is butt ugly....

I grew up near highway 95 in Cambridge, which is pretty much the middle of Boise to McCall. April in Idaho is always hit or miss but for the most part the roads are good. The canyons may be icy in the mornings but the rest of the roads are generally clear and you can do the speed limit of 65. Hwy 55 from Boise to McCall is probably more scenic since it follows the river for a good portion of the drive. It is a big longer in time due to reduced speeds. You may already be on the road so I probably missed the boat with this info, but it may help someone else.
