Interesting drive home.

Well Project84 has had its first ding. And I am happy to say it was not my fault!

I was heading south on 64th Ave S in Kent, and was coming up on the light at S 228th St. The three cars in front of me stopped for the red light, so I to complied with the traffic control device and stopped.

BAM!

My precious Ramcharger was attacked for no good reason. A gentleman, very nice guy, in a 2000 VW Passat, decided to try to go under the passenger rear of the Ramcharger, but the stout bumper, not to mention the International law of tonnage, ensured that forward momentum was halted.

I got out to ensure that no injuries had occured, and non thankfully did. We agreed to pull off the road way into the parking lot for the US Reddway yard as not to impede traffic.

Needless to say, the Mighty Ramcharger survived the day with minor battle scars, but not the same can be said for the gentlemans VW. His hood was crumpled badly, heahlight pushed in, grill destroyed, drivers side quarter panel pushed back and it looked as if the drivers side frint door was out of whack. And he was leaking what looked to be coolant, so he was getting towed home, to Olyimpia.

I really felt for the guy, because he was very apologetic and it was that he looked down for a second, then when he looked up, I was stopped. He told me he had one more payment of 117.00 dollars left on it and had been contemplating getting the timing belt replaced.

Though the air bags did not deploy, I am thinking that an almost 10 year old car, they will most likely total it out. Bummer deal.

Also being the concerned citizen, I dieled 911 to report the accident. I explanied the situation to the dispatcher and was asked "Why are you calling 911 and why do you need a police officer?"

Every time I have been in an accident, I have called the police due to that what has been engrained in my brain from the time I started driving. But I guess that a non injury fender bender on a city street in Kent is not deemed to require a police report. But I am welcome to find the nearest police station and file a report that way. Have I missed some thing? Did they change the rules or what? I was and am shocked about that aspect of my adventure last night.
