the terrain is unforgiving. that video shows some mountains to the south of our COP. i would love to cut some trails out here. luckily the corn is getting cut down finally. kinda scary standing next to corn stalks and not knowing who is back in them. made hiding command wires for IEDs really easy and would take fire form the corn sometimes way too close. had a scare last week....luckily it was only a little pop and not a big boom...

up in the mortar pit we have acquired a kitty. if anyone would be able to send some cat food and flea and tick stuff and some toys it would be appreciated. think we are going to try and bring this cat home with us. its not cheap but one of the section leaderswants to take her home.

Everyone survived those two explosions. the one on the right got towed back, the one on the left got drug by the tow truck. eveyone survived bt there were some injuries. the first pictur is a Cougar thats in good shape for comparison. One truck was a solid axle, broke the axle in half and the engine is down and back. The other is independant front.

I have been able to weld a little but up here. Welded the end of a hydralic ram back together on the tow truck, its still holding after towing those two tucks back in the pictures and a few others. Weded a fitting back onto a ram on the bobcat after the locals ran the big forklift into the side of it (idiots).
we have a readywelder, stick welder, and a mig(doesnt work). everything i have welded has been with the stick which i am not a fan of. hadnt welded with a stick welder since high school.

bobcat fix. no spare parts so had to weld the fitting back on. two new rams are ordered but i dubt we eve see them. went bak today and put anoter pass around the fittingto the body of the ram itself because there was some small leaks and covered it with epoxy. they come and get me to weld because the mechanics have a hard time welding sometimes

A co 1/179 from edmond oklahoma. I live in moore oklahoma. We are in eastern afghanistan at a small mountain COP in the mountains right now. I have not been hit it an IED but a Russian claymore popped up along the road we were walkin on the last mission i went out on. Didnt detonate but was way too close for my comfort. I was 50 feet away fromwere it was emplaced.
