Closing private property is one thing, closing public land access is another. I've heard that the Canadian River run north of Amarillo may not happen any longer because of environmental impact and the fact that the event organizers and promoters were cited for not having, get this, permits for Mass Gatherings.
This is on top of their decision a couple years back to close public access to the Red River. |

Hopefully I'll get to check this place out before it closes
. Does anybody have a contact to the new owner? I'm not saying to send the guy a bunch of letters and aggravate the shit out of him. But, sometimes people will let you have access to their land for a day or two for smaller get togethers. It might help to invite him on a ride if he'll open it up at his convenience once and a while. You could also offer to do a clean up while there.

This is was posted in chit chat. K guy's sorry I didn't see this thread till today. 1. First of all the man does not need the money. I don't think he will sell the land because it has some sentimental value to his family. 2. We are trying to work something out with the new owners to allow some limited acess. 3.Shain and I both believe a mass of letters and calls will do more harm than good. 4.We also are working on the ajoining owners to open up their land as well. 5.I don't think today he has a dislike for the Wheeling community. I think it was a combination of fufilling a dream of his fathers to build a house there for a weekend home in the Hill Country and a large amount of liability exposure. 6. I do respect his right to do with his property as he wishes. His family did allow us to wheel some awesome terrain for 8 years, maybe more if things work out right. 7. They are also a next door neighbor to my property in Katemcy and I don't want to have to live the rest of my life with a angry nieghbor. 8. I do agree that enjoying the property for the time that is left and leaving the land in better shape than when we got it is what we should do now. Thanks for all the wishes and offers for help. Remember we are only 12 day's into this It was almost a year gaining acess the first time. __________________
