Well this weekend was a blast! It rained most of the afternoon on Friday. Had troubles at the bottom of Backside Loop. One rig lost his clutch caused by an O-ring in the slave cylinder. Another buddy in his "new-to-him" buggy found out that the front 60 had a P.O.S. TrueTrac, so it was a good time for him coming out of that trail on rear wheel drive. We got them out and the smaller Jeeps went to help the Jeeps with the clutch issue while us bigger rigs decided to make our way to Cake Walk. The damn access road is becoming a climb in itself just to get to the trailhead. It had water running down it. After a "refreshment" break, we started moving up Cake Walk when a u-joint snapped ending that run. I got back to the trailer and found out that i needed to change my fuel filter, which spewed fuel all over me. After a shower, a night run was decided upon. At about midnight, on top of 8-Point, my dad's Jeep lost its starter. We had to leave it up there overnight. We got it running by 10 the next morning. The day ended up by finally getting on Cake Walk. I am glad to have done this trail! That is one hell of a good climb. Lots of work when it's wet! We started with 6 rigs, and finished with only 3 making the entire trail. There are some big ass rocks on that trail!
Now its back to the drawing board! Need to retube my rear driveshaft, new shocks, finish my tube bumber, and build a complete skid plate before the next trip out! Its now time to spend time with my daughter though! See ya down the trail! |
