Poteau mountain wheeling again!

Hey Guys, thought I would put out some new info about poteau mountain. A man bought all the land that Green Bay Packing owned which is where we all wheeled and he did not let the hunting club that had leased all of it re-new their leases again. I just got his name and phone number today from the mayor. He told me [the mayor] told the new owner about the jeepers wanting to get back up there to wheel and the new owner talked like that would be ok! I am going to do my best to get us back on the mountain and try to do it so we can start our thanksgiving runs again. If he gives me the ok I will let everyone know. Thanks

This is absolutely the best news for this regions four wheeling community!

Thanks for the compliments on the rig Vaughn! And yes I know that you would positively be the first to know about Poteau Mountain, you were the one to always hang in there!

If this holds true, I'm gonna hopefully be in Poteau for this years Thanksgiving! But if Poteau Mtn. isn't open, there is always Cavanall right?

Please keep us posted!

Cavanal is still open to wheelin but the trails are grown up with tree limbs really bad. If you worry about your rig gettin scratched or bent up[windshield broke by limbs] you dont need to be on there. The lower trail up grassy or powerline is about the only trail that is not bad with limbs hanging over it. Some parts of panel wagon are clear but the middle part is bad the last time I was there. If we could get some guys some weekend to all bring some chainsaws we could clear a trail or two, I would buy all the beer, hows that!?

sounds like a good plan to me! Yes, he was fine. He is 15 now and wants his own rig, he will get some seat time in mine. Your patronage to all of us was above and beyond what we expected. Cant wait to get back down there.

Name a weekend and I'll bring the 11 ft. Stihl pole saw and my Stihl 290!

I'm sure that the Poteau Mtn. trails are pretty overgrown as well!

I like beer! I like food! I like four wheeling! I like cutting down trees!

It's all good!

Hello Rusty, glad to see darrell gettin his rig going again,he has been gettin stale laying around to much!! Will let you know when we are ready to start to clear some trails. Rusty, remember when we had the big ice storm and you, johnnie and georgia, clyde and linda, tim, and I think carl and steve and me and traci were up there on cavanal? We had a blast even though it was cold as a sob!! Dont believe I would do it again though, the cold air seems to go to the bone and doesnt feel good!! Hope to see all you guys soon and will let you all know about wheelin again on poteau mtn.

Hey Vaughn, this is Judd, this sounds great. I'm anxious to be able to get back to Poteau Mountain. Let us know when there is going to be a trail clearing party, I can get some guys together for that as well. Especially if you're buying the beer!!

I remember that Ice Storm! In 1997 I believe! I believe that we ran Panel Wagon! We had 40 rigs on that trail that morning, and it took us from 10 am to 10 pm! It was wet, muddy, raining, iced over! Good times had by all!

It is a 87 buick grandnational. I had therron from tecumseh build the motor for it. I bought new polished heads, roller cam, bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, and put methonal injection on it. The car pulls like a freight train!! The parts I got for the car should put it in the 11-0s! It sure feels like it will do it.It is a blast to drive on the street and it idles smooth and can run a/c still!
