spinoff: 4x4 show-Tulsa area
If a decent spot could be found with plenty or room to park or even unload the not so DOT friendlies, wonder how well this would fly around here with a few sponsors and all proceeds benfitting (insert charity here)? Could be a toy run or just a "show and grime" (vs show and shine). Simple awards, if any, but categories judged by crowd votes. A few ideas:
Muddiest Cleanest Best of Show Crowd Fav Best Mud Best Rock / Trail Best Mall Crawler Have an RTI, maybe a few local celebs (Put a weather person/ news anchor in on an RTI trip?) and use the power of the PBB, local vendors, events and word of mouth to advert and get the word out in plenty of advance notice. I think it would be cool, if nothing else just to get a chance to meet a lot of people around here local or not so local for a "meet & greet" of sorts. Maybe even use it as a chance to talk about any issues we face here concerning land use, safety, whatever. Reminder: Just throwing ideas around, not committing to anything at all...yet. What say you all? Good idea? Bad idea? Huge PITA? Worth the effort for a good cause? Even possible?

I think it would be a good idea....
Maybe set it up around some area with enough room to have a swap meet at the same time. Have some of the local shops out to promote their business. Get some donated parts and access. To have drawing for. There could be alot of things you could get involved, just depends on how big you would want it to be..... |

We do it each year with the Trailchasers, some years have really sucked, fewer years though were pretty cool. If the Rooster is running I would like to make an appearance but as usual participation is hard to come by. Enter " Wheelin for the Wounded"

It will work but there may not be very many participants the first year, but it will grow each year after the first. I have put the run on at poteau and each year it got bigger. A piece of advice[for what its worth] try to keep your cost down as much as possible. I have found out that most people that you want to have as a "draw" to get more people to come will usually donate their time if you go about it the right way.My wife and I put on a hot air balloon festival each year and we always have some kind of 4x4 exhibition and it draws the kids like crazy.[And all the rednecks to!!]The kids will drive their parents nuts till they take them there! This last october we had a monster truck which came to our event and he parked it in front of our hotel the day before and it was a big hit! The owner sold rides at the balloonfest and the kids were lined up for 2 blocks!! The good thing was it did not cost us a dime!! But it made the people come out because the kids wanted to ride.I would be glad to help you in any way so if you need any more info PM me.

I would be up for it.
I was one of the heads for the "09 Wheelin for the Wounded" at Disney this year along with Ken (KORE) and Chris R. We are also members of a local offroad group, TulsaOffroad.com. We have a meeting coming up on the 22nd and I can throw the idea around there if you would want. But i would be more than willing to help out if ya want! Let me know! BigKev

Okay, looks like I need to start making a list of ideas, places and names. Appreciate the feedback and if I decide to go with it, I'll definitely be in touch with all of you!!

I'd be interested in going if nothing more than to meet the other PBBers in the area. I might even take my cherokee, as long as nobody makes fun of it for not being very hardcore.

I would definitely like to see something like this happen.
I have some contacts that I could use to help with this event....Parking lot, food vendors, etc.... Feel free to give me a call or come by the shop to discuss.
