Silverado truggy build thread
I am at WyoTech right now in Motorsports Chassis Fabrication and going to start building a chassin in te next few weeks. I hope to leave Wyoming with a roller, but thats a long shot. Building this rig following the KOH rulebook. My grand idea is to take a shot at the 2011 LCQ. This will be a full tube chassis with some Chevy Silverado body pieces. Shooting for around 3500 pounds.
So here is what i have. 2002 Silverado cab and hood. (will be severely cut up) 18" FOA Remote Res. Coilovers. No springs yet since i do not know wat spring rates i will need. Some steering parts. 38" TSL SX's off my brothers S-10 that have decent tread. They will get me rolling until i can get something else. Chassis: KOH legal 1 3/4 inch DOM main cage and the rest will be 1 3/4 inch DOM and EW(to save money) On the buy soon list. Axles: 14 bolt rear/ 60 or fab 9 front. Seats: Corbeau or Mastercraft. Engine: Setting up the chassis for a small block chevy. Transmission: 700R4 Transfer case: Dana 300 or NP 205(eventually doubled) Taking donations and ideas. I can use eerything i can get. A students budget, especially at this school, are very limited. Please feel free to give input. Will post pics of what i have soon. |

I need some input on steering system choice, brake system set-up, and anything else i can be give input on. The plan is to build a good all around rig with lots of travel, medium ride height, able to out wheel my brother.

UPDATE! Got the Cab stripped of what little was in it. Took out the wiring harness, heater box,and the cross beam that goes under the dash. going to start measuring tomorrow and maybe start cutting on it. Taking a little over a foot out of the rockers, but going to keep the cab the full width.

i cant believe you actually left it in the cage outside of the diesel building, the super techers (you know what im talking about) like to swipe crap out of that cage. Id put it in a storage unit somewhere.
but hey good luck Got some family in cheyenne and friends in wyoming still, if you need help finding parts i can help ya. Theres a few good junkyards up near sheridan, i know the yards in laramie (the one over on 1st near the bowling alley) turn the noses down at the students of wyotech. |

I've already talked to you a couple times, but I bet we can help with lights and wiring, switch panel, etc.
But I'll be expecting a beer or 2 while we are at the Spring break meet and greet! Oh, and x2 on the narrowing of the body. Mine is a full tube buggy, and its to wide.

So Shain, if you're not on here for a few days, does that make you...
wait for it... the... ...missing Link? ![]() x's (a really big number here) on narrowing. Cool points and better mobility.

sweet, let me know what i need to do to get u what i need on the lights and wiring. well, i guess i better decide quick, already got the beginning of the chassis about to tack together. it is really wide looking sitting on the frame bench. i think ill set the cab on the center of the chassis when its tacked with the rockers cut off and see how it looks, if i want to narrow it its just a few simple tacks to break. will take pictures after class today and show yall what has happened so far. enough lunch, back to school. Shain, linked sounds so much more, uh, mysterious? how does Maggie Mae sound for a name for this rig?

My notes are at school, but the 2X4 tubing that create the rock sliders are a little of 80 inches. From those points it all narrows a lot in the hood and behind the cab. Posting pics soon.
