Durhamtown wants your input!
Mike D asked me to post this up on other boards. As it says below post up comments here or email him directly. I'll try to facilitate the conversation or answer any questions as best as possible. Thanks in advance for your input!
"Ok folks. here it is in a nutshell, What are the good the bad and ugly about DP that needs to change. Also as some of you know I am due to return back to the sand box here soon. When I come back well my future is unclear if I will still be working at DP. I would love to stay but with how some things are going I am not sure it would be cost effect for me to stay. So why I am still here and still might be able to make some changes give them to me. What do we do right, what do we need to improve on and what do we need to scrap and start over with. I am looking for straight answers dont beat around the bush. I have thick skin so its ok if ya bash me, but for this park to go forward I need your help. If you want to post them here you can, or you can email me as well smokin099@hotmail.com Thanks so much and I will be seeing you all for the Fall Crawl.. Mike D"

I would say just take a look at other popular SE parks, and look where you can improve. Your location is closer to alot of these Georgia folks, yet many are driving to windrock, MM, WITC, etc. Keep doing what you are doing and maybe get some publicity out about a annual pass and how you are trying to cater to the locals, want to bring in a lot of the hardcore 4x4 population and have something for everyone. sorry if that seems jumbled or critical of you, I am just trying to quickly add some input. I came down for the save the park ride and had a good time, but need to come down and explore the park better. Maybe a better map for the new customers that will be coming down?

Cool thanks guys! Keep it coming...The good the bad and the ugly! I'm just helping them out and will deliver the message to them. Anything you say will not hurt my feeling a bit.
![]() I enjoy the place but from a different angle than most parks. I shoot on the ranges while there along with rent side by sides etc. Lot's of amenities other than 4x4 trails in two separate parks.

I've been there twice now and would love to see more rocks! Boulder ridge is a blast now that there are many more lines popping up. The group I was with found some that most certainly posed a challenge even for sticky compound tires. Slippery nipple is fun, steep rocky hill climbs always attract a crowd. Once a few hard trails are established, let them stay hard.

Well i rode there at the save DT ride, and raced the ECORS race. I like the park, with all the amenities, but it lacks a major obstacle. Boulder ridge is fun but its just a huge pile of rocks. Slipper nipple to me is the best obsticle but it is a fairly easy obstacle. The ECORS race to me was awesome! I think events like that and other events with a payout will draw more hardcore wheelers, that in turn will get more people talking, and that will hopefully get more people there, and more people may make the trails harder.

Slippery nipple was great when I was there last time, I would say the more trails like it you can create the better. The more natural the terrain the better.

I haven't made it down there yet since it has been changed. We took a look at it about 2 years or so ago when we were down on ATV's. From the pics it looks much better than it once was. I see a lack of natural rock coming up in a lot of your trails. Maybe you could create some obstacles like River Rock had? They had a good little thing goin on. It wasn't the hardest park what so ever but they had some very good chalenging un natural stuff. Down this way the slick red clay gives you a heck of a challenge once it gets on top of the rock you add.

GA folks really need a local spot to wheel! I just wonder how you'll be able to cater to both groups....atvs and full size rigs. All of the other successful parks are focused on one group. Is there a bunch of "un molested" land out there? Rock bouncing seems to be bringing in the coin right now so you may want to try to get that group of $$$ spenders out your way. Personally, I enjoy crawling and will never spend 100k on a buggie, but those guys are drawing big crowds.
River Rock was a favorite spot of mine. |

I have inspected the trails via my SXS. Planning to bring the new rig down for testing in a few weeks. I really hope Mike can make the truck side of the park as awesome as the SXS and MX side of the park.
Positive: Close for east coasters Dtown is by far the best MX and SXS park in the US Given time and support Dtown will produce what we want for rock crawling / bouncing This place should be a major hit for ECORS type racing Negative: Minimal elevation change I have not seen an obstacle that looks scary The trails look very tame Trails are short? No extended traveling for those who like to watch, explore, and wheel mildly I see nowhere for a rock bounce type rig to put on a show Cannot put cars on GP track (maybe consider a few hours each evening of cars only) No night riding! A lot of fun and amazing wheeling happens in the early morning hours RiverRock is a good comparison. I really enjoyed wheeling there. I would think Dtown could produce same thing.

One time I was up there they put together a designated night ride. I thought that was cool and even though I was beat from Dirt biking all day I pulled myself together to go out in my buds jeep, it was fun and I can't wait to get my jeep up there. We do need some harder longer trails. 80% of each trail looks like a country drive way. Kinda like just a hunting trail.
