For daytrips, I head to Hardrock (have a run there on the 21st) That is the best legal non mudding place in Fl. IMO. There are a couple of secret places and then some of us travel. As for shops, I know a mecahnic or 2 that will work on modified rigs. There are some shops as well, but some are hacks so be weary. I see you have a trooper, I usually drive to Jax. to hang out with Clay County 4x4 since they are all make friendly. Good luck.

Ocala here. If you ever come up to wheel in the NF here give me a heads up.

I believe I'll be at hardrock on the 22nd. FYI the trail cleanup in the NF is the 21st with camping at hardrock that night with the hardrock ride being on sunday.

My rig may or may not be ready to come with me. I may wheel it anyway.

Mosquito County 4x4 is in the Orlando area. They get together frequently to ride or just hang out.

orlando/kissimmee area here... i too am looking for some ppl to go with. Seems that everywhere i used to go is being built up, and i don't know where everyone goes, besides holopaw & altamonte, which are both pretty far for me. Anyone know where to go near me?? I wanna try some technicals(well as technical as florida gets, not just mud)

Yeah, i dont do mud, my truck is def built for the NC rocks and trees. Sadly i know theres not much of that here, but that doenst make me any more willing to to hit the mud b/c what i do know is that its twice as sloppy here as it is back where im from.... If any of you area guys wanna hang some weekends just holla at me, im always game to explore or throw in a helping hand if anyone has any projects goin on.... im in Winter Park

Where in Altamonte is there wheeling? Also, although about 1-2 hours from you, try Hardrockmx. It opened last year and is getting better and better.

I'm in Polk County. Richloam is a decent place to wheel, but it's pretty non-technical, mud and that's about it.

I keep hearing good things about Hardrock in Ocala, but have yet to check it out for myself.

maybe we should work up a weekend trip and all meet up to check it out (Hardrock that is), I knew good wheeling spots (for my style) we're gonna be sparce before i came down this way, but if no ones really checked it out yet then sounds like it could be a decent trip......

OK, for all practical intents, I am in Altamonte Springs and I cannot imagine a single place you would be allowed off of the road let alone a place to wheel.

As Gator said, there's some secret places (usually old quarries or debris fields around old quarries) but at the rate we are losing areas to even drive off of the pavement, people are unlikely to divulge their locations.

As for locals, there's orlandojeepchat.com which isn't really all jeeps. We let Gator in and he's got a Nissan. For that matter, half of the most active members have sold their jeep and now are either drag racing on the weekends or tooling around in ricers for the gas mileage.

Most Florida clubs are more social than hardcore because there is nothing here to do for the most part. Many of them, however do plan trips out of state to Gray Rock, River Rock, or Morris Mountain. Keep an eye on the local forums and clubs and decide who to hang out with for the lowdown on anywhere to go.

And BFH, if you're moving to DeLand, holler. I'm in town at least once a month. Just don't tell Gator.

I know you come over to this side of the bridge once a month because everyone complains about the smell. As for socail clubs vs wheeling clubs, Miami Crawlers and Clay County 4x4 have rides all the time. Half of CC4x4 went to River Rock this past weekend and the other half went to Hardrock. Currently in the pipeline are Tellico, Coal Creek, Moab and Arizona trips. We'll do at least a couple of more Hardrock trips and some trips through the forest one of which will be our annual Christmas/New Year weekend night ride. We even have our own private course that it by invitation only.

Um, scooter, i pass through winter park prolly 2 or 3 times a week. just not in my rig(usually not).

I'm cool w/ getting a weekend together some time. It's hard for me(since i have one saturday off a month), but i guess i can see what i can do and post it on here, if it's good w/ everyone else, sweet, if not, then cool & yall have fun anyway. I'll post it up after i get back from vacation in NC, :-P

Green, Moab is being discussed but no date has been sent. If I can get the AZ trip to go down next year then I plan to set up a long distance trip every year following or at least every other. Are ya going to come with us?

Apopka here.

You can try www.florida4x4.com there are some OK guys on there.

Ocala has some cool trails, there are also some great trails over on the west coast. But, everything is either clay or washouts. Better plan on hitting mud. I havent been out wheelin once where I havent come home covered in it. Its just a way of life in this swamp state.
