The Southeast Offroad Coalition is born

The Southeast Offroad Coalition is born!

I would like to explain a little about how the S.O.C is structured and how it will operate.

ADOPT-A-PROGRAM

The S.O.C will be made up of State Keepers and Trail Keepers.

-State Keepers will be responsible for keeping the S.O.C's members informed of conditions/issues,etc for thier state, as well as helping us gather information for your state.

-Trail keepers will be responsible for keeping the State Keeper and S.O.C's members informed of events,conditions/issues, anything related to thier adopted OHV area.

If you would like to adopt your state or a particular OHV area, do so now!
You can adopt a state or OHV area by sending a PM to S.O.C.

The S.O.C has no membership dues and is strictly a non profit, volunteer organization at this time.

We are currently trying to compile information from every state and every OHV area to add to our database and we would appreciate everyones support as this program gets started.

ADOPT YOUR STATE OR OHV AREA NOW!

We think this will be the most effective way to get information out to every offroader in the south.

S.O.C

So what are you going to do with the information you compile?

Who is in charge of this organization?

What are you going to do with the donations recieved?

Are you a 501c 3?

What are you going to do with the donations recieved? These will be put back into the trail systems. First is to identify the needs. Bank accounts will be visible so that all money is accounted for. You'll know exactly where your money goes.

Are you a 501c 3? We are still working on that. Currently there is no cost to anyone to become a member.

So S.O.C is geared more toward private parks then?

What type of info are you asking for? If you want to keep tabs on trail conditions and park happenings then why do you need a coalition?

I am just curious I support anyone trying to help the sport and the parks.

Would the manager/ owner/ operator of the park make the best trail keeper? Should they be contacted first to see if they're interested? It would eliminate one middle man.

Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

We are setting this system up to keep the 4x4 community informed about each park/state.

Right now theres limited information, we want people to be able to go to our website and look up info on the area they want to visit, we are just trying to be as informative as we can be, were going to be an excellent resource!

The S.O.C will help any park it can help, if it can help.

Lots of times the park owners arent wheelers and probably wouldnt be interested. We want our trail keepers to be the people out there riding.

The S.O.C will be trying to build a relationship with all OHV areas, organizations, owners as it can.

If you looked at it on a balance beam private parks would tip the scale. At this point there are more of them than public areas. IMO, this does not mean they will not be helped. I believe the SOC will extend a helping hand to all areas.

The info is everything you can think of. Conditions, difficulty, location, recent photos, etc. The main purpose is not the info. We figured having that information would be beneficial to the members wanting the check the other areas out. Plus it gives an excellent view of what is being done to maintain these trails.

Of course we'll need to contact owners and agencies before proceeding with any help. That's like me mowing your grass before I ask if it's OK. We're hoping to have clubs interact with park owners and land managers to build relationships that will last.

The S.O.C will be holding meetings and every offroad club or individuals are encouraged to attend, we will discuss the needs of the community, listen to ideas and try to build this into a very useful organization.

Some complants about other organizations is the lack of information and communication, thats what we are trying to avoid by getting everyone interested, involved, its the best method for success.

Thanks

I like the idea of park information in one easy to navigate place full of information. Do you have a website planned to store everything?

I am still alittle curious about the money going toward private parks and how that will be handled. Kinda hard to tell a landowner how to spend money that you give him.

the idea is to not give money out to parks. Clubs will help with trails and if there needs to be signs, fences, etc. we would be able to help out with that.

Well in that case I like where you are going so far. You guys just need more info out there and a mission statement.

Most of the wheeling we do are in the states you have listed. It will be nice to have all of the park names and details in one place when we make our trip plans for the year.

The main purpose is helping OHV parks in our region, not compiling information about our region. We are trying to make our website as informative, educational and useful as we can.

You claim that you are a non profit org, however a quick search doesn't turn up any documentation to back up your claim.

Please provide us some proof of your legitimacy of being a non profit org

The legalities are not fully taken care of yet, thats why our website and forum are not visible. THis post was to answer some of the questions we were receiving and to try to get the trailkeeper system that we want to use jump started. When everything is finalized, it will be made public for everyone to see.

We will have to vote on it in our next meeting but you can pretty much count big south fork off road http://www.bigsouthforkoffroad.com in. Our local area is Brimstonehttp://www.brimstonerecreation.com

What state will the SOC be incorporated in? If TN, the process is not bad. Now if you're shooting for 501 c3, that is a different story.

I'd like to see your detailed mission/plan/structure as soon as it is publicly available to see of or how TOHVA can work with SOC going forward.
