You must have one that is registered for the Street. Since DMV doesn't allow any new ones to be registered that way, you would have to find an older model that was registered. And of course the people selling them make you pay for it.
Other than that I don't think you can take them on any road that is not 35mph or slower.

Here in palm desert the city gives you a lic for street use after there inspection for signals lights, brake lights and seat belts. It could be a city thing.

yea Im curious, bc they dont have seatbelts...
I got on a "not a taxi" gold cart a while back. We sat facing the back, and wore seatbelts. We would flown out if we didn't.
