I have a 86 Toyota with a 22r I want to put a single wire gm alternator on it does anybody know of one that may fit right in or need lil fab work to make work?
i did a lot of research on this, and ended up with the powermaster pm47294, mounted on a 22re, with a trail gear adapter... used some coupons at advanceautoparts.com.
it's not a single-wire gm unit, because if i recall correctly, those alternators don't allow you to hook up the alt warning light(?)
i cut the end of the adjustment arm off, because it was fouling some power steering hoses, and i replaced the long bolt because the diameter was kinda small... i also welded in the factory brace off of the original arm.
I'm not worried about the warning light I have no cluster in the truck for it to show up on. I already replaced the coil and control module over 2 a gm to make it simple.
