engine machine shop for 1UZFE rebuild

I have exhausted my google fu. Does anyone on here own or know of a very reputable engine machine shop? I have a lexus/toyota 1uzfe engine that needs rebuilding. I would prefer to give the work to someone local and or on pirate.

They are so cheap and last so long that it probably just makes sense to put in used one.

If you shop around I bet you could find one with around 100kmi for not much more than $500. I would rather have an untouched 100k factory motor than a rebuilt motor. Of course I have just never had good luck with rebuilt motors.

I am in the process of replacing the motor on my wifes 96 4runner. I had the choice of a 100k motor for $1000 or a rebuilt for $1300. I went with the used motor and it was not to save $300.

I use Bobs Machine in La Crescenta. I used to work there. Guy is way knowledgable about Toyotas. Look him up. Does all the work for our shop and a lot of Toyota dealers... Tell him Tim sent you.

Thanks for the name drop Mobil1syn, but if you are just looking for machine work then take it to Karls Auto Machine in Corona. That is who we use. It is an old school machine shop and they pretty much get everyones business around here. Karl has been in town for 20 or 30 years. Dont be in a hurry though, they are a small shop and are usually very busy.

spending money on a 1uz rebuild sounds spendy, especially when a good running used one can be had for about $8.

seriously.
