Need some help!
Ok, so cal guys.. specifically the mountain guys... I need some help. The lube jockey that changed the oil on the tow rig put the oil filter on too tight the last time, and in trying to get it off, it doesn't want to budge much. I got it to go 1/4 of a turn, with my beefy 120 lb frame
. In frustration, I jammed a screwdriver through it hoping that would work. Well, surprise, it didn't. Now, I have a truck I can't drive, and an oil filter with holes in it. Anyone wanna come help me try and get this damn thing off, so I can continue with my oil change?Scott

tried a strap, and bent it. I am gonna try two strap filter wrenches, and two people.. one on the bottom of the filter, one on the top. Next step is an end cap filter wrench if that doesnt work.

I will look for that type tomorrow. Its got to work better than a regular metal strap filter wrench. On the plus side ( I think) when I took the passenger side tire off the truck, I realized it was also time for front brake pads.. FAWK. LOL.. Good thing I have more than one vehicle lol.

You know, I have 2 rubber strap wrenches from Lowes ( I think) and I take filters off with them and they work great even when oily. I like the strap you guys are showing too. Maybe I will get one of those too just in case.

Since an oil filter is little more than a beer can with socks in it, how about cutting off the body, removing the paper element, clean off the oil enough to heat up the head nut so you can break it loose, or strip off the threads to your filter head, then run over to the stealership to buy a new filter head, put it on with a new filter, oil er up and then send the bills to JiffeeLOOB.
Good ruck! |

all the more reason to be doing your OWN oil changes po' riggity
As for the jake brake, try using the po' mans jake brake and downshit that f-in landyacht until you can convince the wife to let you go jake!

Damn.. I leave for a few minutes and get TRASHED LOL.. Anyhow.. I got the damn filter off. Just a little brute force, a BFH, and lots of F bombs, and off it came. I do my own oil changes 99% of the time, this last one I was just WAY over on, and had the case of amsoil in the truck, so I stopped and told them to use the Amsoil in the back with filter. I will never go to anyone ever again for an oil change, I can tell you that! The filter is now on HAND TIGHT. Donald, I tried to call your cell, but you musta been on your way home or something. No answer, and I decided not to leave a message. Thanks for the help guys, and you can bet I am gonna go buy one of those strap filter wrenches like Mobil1syn posted.. I broke two filter wrenches on this job, and almost broke the 3rd LOL...

Thats the beauty of the 6 spd, I CAN downshift easily. I don't really tow enough to justify a jake brake, or I'd have one!
