Steel in San diego

Where can I get steel in SD or La Mesa? Tube, Flat Stock, sheets of steel, when I lived in Escondido I would get it at Escondido metal company but don't want to drive all the way up there.

Any help?

Jeremy

theres a few places. for strap, box, and plate i go to Otay metal recyclers in chula vista. for DOM i go to Tube Service Comp in El Cajon. those are pretty much the cheapest places ive found.

California Metal Supply in El Cajon has the best prices I've found and they carry a lot of everything.. Esco metal is good for surplus steel and the prices are good if they have what your looking for...

Greg use to work over at California metals awhile back, didn't know he moved over there, hows the prices?? And I thought he built that thing to run fast in the desert???

Competitive Metals beats Calf. Metals prices. Haven't priced Toten Tube or Tube Service of E.C. in a few years.
I haven't been out with Greg and his xj (at least the body is xj) It looks fast sit in his shop. Mark made it out for TDS with his daughter in his xj that he had just finish the night before the event. Good group over at Competitive Metals

Hey Mke,

What kind of tube bender did you buy? I was wanting to make a cooler rack/bike rack for my jeep. Thanks for the offer of letting me come and try it out.

Thanks guys I think I will be heading over to competitive metals this week and see what they have.

Try to post pics of it after I build it. I know its not a big project but I'll try to make it cool.

Harbor Frieght, 12 ton bender. Just have to watch what your doing and pack sand in thin tubing before bending. Not the greatest bender but it works. Let me know if you want to use it.

Try CalMesa Steel (Also in Escondido). We used to use Rancho Metals, but they were much more expensive.

I think both will deliver with a good sized order.

X2, Just went by today to pick some 1/4" sheet steel for my skidplate. Good selection, service and they speak "offroadese".

The guys at Competitive are great...also I've very often found the best price by calling Danny from Tube Service who's also a wheeler and Pirate member. Tube Service does deliver depending on order size, but we've seen even a single stick arrive on our door on their big truck if they have a delivery nearby.

Both Competitive and Tube Service are in El Cajon.

In Kearny Mesa, Industrial metal Supply (IMS) is there but always seem a lil more $$$. They do have a wild selection of stuff, that's for sure.
