looking for somebody to wheel with in Moab 9/27 - 10/2

I'm going to be out in Moab for a mountain bike trip tentatively September 29-30. I was hoping to do some wheeling while I was out there, so anywhere in the 9/27 - 10/2 range should be available. Is anybody up for meeting out there? Or are there any existing trips planned I could ride along with for a couple days?

I have a new rig now, so I should be able to handle any trail that Moab has to offer. No more sheet metal to worry about. :woot:

I have a similar plan & should be in Moab from Sept 30th thru till Oct 6th. I'll be there mountain biking with my wife but will also have my jeep with me.....

Although I'm not a local, i have wheeled there half a dozen times & have done most of the standard trails & Area BFE.

Keep in touch as it gets closer.

Matt

Bunch of AZ guys with buggies and mild jeeps will also be there the first week of Oct. and usually split time between Moab & BFE. Don't forget to apply for a permit if you want to wheel Coyote Canyon (BFE area)

Considering only 7 vehicles can run the trail at once....

If any of you guys are interested in running Coyote during the first week of October, let me know. I'd like to join in (if space is available) or organize a group and apply for a permit.

Count me in. I believe my small group of 4 buggys reserved the 6th for Coyote. I'm not sure how strict they are, but I'm sure we can all make it work out one way or another...

The last time I wheeled Coyote was 2007 and it took us 1-2 hours with 5 buggys and was nice horseshoe-shaped trail that climbed up big boulders and then back down to the main road. Easy 5 minute drive from camping @ BFE

I can't make that one on the 6th. I have to be back to work then. If by chance you guys decide to run it on sometime 9/30 - 10/3, I would probably come along.

Moab October 2012

I also may be in Moab from 10/4 thru 10/8. Some buddy's of mine will be there with mild built Jeeps. I would like to hook up with some folks to wheel some of the harder trails. If I go, I will get to Moab by noon on 10/4, wheel something short that afternoon. I'd like to run Pritchett to Behind the Rocks and out to 191 on 10/5. I'd like to join in on the Coyote Canyon run if space permits on 10-6 and catch a trail with my buddy's on 10/7. If anyone is interested in putting something together let me know. I'll be wheeling the rig below.

Thanks
Steven

Unfortunately the BLM is very strict about the number of vehicles on the trail. They'll pull the permit if the guidelines are not followed (I haven't had a chance to get in a group since it reopened)

Great trail!!!!

Here's some info from one of the guys instrumental in getting the trail "re-opened"

Me and a few buddies ran the coyote trail under permit regulations for the Saturday on Labor Day Weekend 2012... One item I had to lug was a spill kit is required to be on had for the group!!!

The trail is awesome, hard but not too hard (maybe an 8 consistantly with no bypass's)... decent length, but not too long (I would budget 3hrs). FYI, Half the trail is going down the other side of the mountain back towards the gate and thats not too hard what so ever.

The optional line to the right in the begining (about two obsticles in there will be a sign you see that shows you can drive UP this route) is a cool spot to mess around in... & you could even do a U turn left and go back through the normal part of the trail and do the obsticle again to make the trail even more fun.

I will be there also. Would like to run the Poison Spider to Golden Spike to Gold Bar Rim route one of the days if anyone is interested.

We are still going. Leaving tomorrow AM and staying at Area BFE till Sunday, then heading into Moab the rest of the week. Couple of us have 'blue' tube buggies and Chevy DuraMax pick-ups

Looks like 4 in our group and we may still have a spot open for Coyote Canyon on Sat.

The weather is beautiful out there right now. 50 at night, 85 during the day. Here's a couple videos from earlier this week.
