New Mexico Wheeling

A couple of buddies & I are planning a trip from deep south Texas to Moab in September for Blazer Bash. I suggested making a 1-2 day stop in NM or AZ to get some wheelin' in other places. Other than Las Cruces, I'm not familiar with other locations. Anyone want to host us?

If I was'nt moving I would be more than happy to. If you're going to Moab I highly recomend Socorro and Farmington, both are on your way. I'll E-Mail this thread to a couple buddy's that don't visit this board that much and hopefully they'll chime in and show you around.
What dates are you looking at?

thanks guys. I'll just like to get as much wheelin' in as possible. BB is going to be around the last weekend of September (26-28)...but we'd like to leave a few days before to make at least a pit stop or two...just as long as it's not way off our course

If all goes as planned I will have my F-Toy ready by then (hopefully way before). I would be happy to help organize something while you are passing through.

Actually 3 full size blazers with bodies. By the end of march my buddy's truck will be done. Manual transmission swap is already done but we are waiting on a driveshaft from Jesse and then we have this list to do

shackle flips
hydro assist
FI conversion
something else to I think

My goal is to completely trash his body before we are done with the trails.

yea well here's a quick overview of my to do list:

'cage, mount seats, x-members, drop motor back in, set up propane, weld on spring perches, set up full hydro, rear brakes, brakelines, rock rings, narrow the fenders...etc...etc...etc. but it'll be done hopefully by May, that way I can get some seat time before heading over there & working out the bugs.

How full size friendly are you looking for? What do you want boulders, notches, waterfalls...?

North of phoenix is what your looking for. like 6.5hr drive from las cruses Up I10 and to I17

I don't care, I'd like to check out Las Cruces & possibly another location if time permits & as long as it's on our way to Moab. BB is Sept 19-21. My sheetmetal will be removeable so bring what you got NM no, not really, I don't want to end up at Moab broken...

Wondering if you guys would be able to host on a Wednesday or Thursday...I understand everyone's got their lives, families, work, etc. & parks may not even be open. Just let me know. Thanks

Well hell if it's that far out I will probably be back around by then. If so a Thursday may not be a problem, I don't know about the other guys. The "parks" that I was refering to are'nt really parks per si, just OHV areas, so they're always open. This includes Las Cruces.

Here's a vid of a couple of us Toy guys in Socorro a month or so ago to give you an idea of the terrain. Socorro is about 2 hours North of Las Cruces up I-25.

damn Squeeze Canyon would eat my Blazer alive, but I'd still run it & poor pretzled d-shaft. Definitely a place we can consider stopping at. Here's my email in case any of your buddies want to get in contact...unless they're on another forum?

Shit forgot to reply to this. I should be able to host some people in the living room. I dont have the biggest house but some tools to do repairs if need be. Let me check with the roommate first but it should be ok.

Beware farmington can really fuck some shit up if your not careful but they is a nice support group up there and its not far from MOAB.

no problem...we want to be hosted for some wheelin' spots...but we're still not sure if we're gonna need a place to crash after or if we're driving to Moab right after...we haven't figured that out...& I think we want to get to Moab in one piece so far it's four of us total going, my buddy & me & the wives

if it matters, I'm 24, my buddy's 26ish, we like to drink, not to get drunk but just to hang out & bbq, etc. I have two kids, so my crazy days are pretty much over

Sorry, we don't drink anymore in NM

Or any less for that matter. Well maybe we do drink less since Brian is moving
