Talking Four Peaks Pickup, February 7th 2009

Its almost that time of year again.

This years event is on February 7th. From 9am to 3pm.

Thanks to our friends at Sierra Expeditions. Folks who want to contribute a couple bucks to the cost of the cleanup can do so at this link.

Any money left over will be donated to www.disabledexplorers.com and www.karmaracer.org

I went up to the Four Peaks and Sycamore area today. (the cleanup will be in both areas)
There is plenty of trash, especially on the sycamore side.

Sadly, the forest service has fenced off almost every area that we cleaned last year. Sad, because closing off areas seems to be the only thing they can do to keep areas clean. Also, this just forces the shooters to other areas to trash. It doesn't prevent it. Nice, because the areas stay clean...

Four Peaks was looking good!

We will try to be there if work does not come up. Should we bring the crawler or the DD truck for trash. Do you all go on any runs the to lake or upper Sycamore.
Thanks

Thanks Tom,
Whatever works for you. The truck may come in handy though. I just did a fun run from the lake up and over 4 peaks. Pretty nice.
Actually, after the cleanup a few of us were talking about running up and over 4 peaks and then back some trail then heading down to the rocknroll mcdonalds car show in a bunch of dirty trucks. Could be fun!

I just picked up a load of water and over a thousand bags from Arizona Clean and Beautiful.

I want folks to have this link. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE LITTERING OR DUMPING KEEP THIS LINK OR TELEPHONE NUMBER HANDY.

http://www.arizonacleanandbeautiful....Form_page.html

The Litter Hotline (1-877-3LITTER)

Once you fill this out the perpetrator will get a letter like this:

Its "just" a letter, but many of these people would not want to get caught and this lets them know that they are being watched. It may not change their mind, but I REALLY do think that it will put enough fear into the perpetrators to think twice before doing it again for fear that they are being watched.

Just went up and over Four Peaks on Sunday.. Pretty clean compared to prior years. I wish I could make it but work Saturdays till 6. Might make a night run out of it though.

Not bad along the road, comparitively speaking to last year. This year there is actually a lot MORE trash total though because Sycamore is beat. Completely trashed.
Thanks for the support guys. See ya out there.

actually I was impressed with the amount of youngsters that showed up...the game and sheriff's were out in force...the sad news is that just after we cleaned one area up the shooters returned! I don't mind them as long as they leave the place like the found it....

Thanks a lot. I wish I could have made it but I had to work. I have not been out there in a long time because of the amount of trash.
Thanks again.
