So who is interested in helping build trails/develop a new area in Oklahoma ?
This is about 30 minutes WEST of Clayton(Daisy). If you don't have a rubi owners sign in you will have to sign in get one then check it out.
These folks will need your help......It looks like another great Oklohoma spot I'm out on this one since building Green Acres (just a little worn out for now) but will give them all the knowledge and verbal help I can. http://www.rubiconownersforum.com/ph...st=0&sk=t&sd=a Teaser Mike Green

I have ridden this area on my dirt bike. It has huge potential. From 2's-xxx's. Just make long trails if you can ![]() Long trails with many obstacles are the comments I hear the most from people about Green Acres. Mike Green

Mike, suggest that those guys to try and not waste time trying to cut trails with tractors and skid loaders and what not. Too many times this is how people think they need to cut trails. Rigs, people, and chainsaws is all you need. Otherwise, you get a bunch of 2-3 level trails that have been graded down.
I know that is easier said than done with a group of Rubicon Express TJ owners. However, maybe some of the built rigs will help out also. Personally, I've had enough trail building for a year... Time to just go.

I posted the statement and Green's quote below on another 4x4 site in the Ft. Worth area:
Quote:
All the heavy equipment does is destroy all the good obstacles. If a section is too hard, create a bypass area for it. After that, vehicle traffic and nature take over. Both are key elements. Long, winding trails are the key to a property like this. If they trails are too short, it takes away from the potential. Even Green Acres has several trails that are/were just too short and have grown over time. Luckily the access road really helps tie many of those trails together in a quick efficient manner. Wet N Wild, Jeff's Ledges, Green Mamba - could/should be the same trail - most run them all together much of the time You could break it out into Wet N Wild / KT's Climb... whatever. Even Black Sheep Blvd has grown in length even though many people still bail out after the 1st section. Green Mamba got extended and goes even further than most as it turns into the Bounty Trail eventually. Gobbler's Knob is a long ravine, but most have only run the very top section (if any of it at all) It's like the old property - we created Lost Creek as an extension of Timberline. 3-stage was a longer trail - even ending with 4x4 trail (once that was extended). The power line trails were basically one long trail finishing with Snake Pit. Purple Headed could continue on into Timberline / Rock Creek / Lost Creek.... A network of trails with that thought process in mind it what the goal should be. That's one thing that gets me about BMRA. 1 million tiny trails, each having 1 or 2 obstacles at the most. Basically, it's 3 or 4 real Jeep/4x4 type trails with a bunch of extra signs as the system evolved. An obstacle is not a trail. A trail should be a group or series of obstacles.

Mike,
I was lurking through the "Daisy Wheelin Spot" post on the Rubi forum and it brought up a question. Why is that we don't sign or are asked to sign a waiver when wheelin Green Acres? Mr. Freiling's pretty adament about us signing a waiver and these Rubi guys are getting suggestions with this Daisy area as well. Why not Green Acres. Just Curious. Also are there more areas to run further down Gobblers Knob, below the "Weenie Entrance" |

There are several sections to Gobbler's Knob. The Weenie Entrance take you to RNMB, (that's going right at the Y if my memory serves me correctly). If you go left to Ate My Lunch, you'll find things much more extreme with the winch getting pulled out 2-4 times for most people. Even the exit out of the Ate My Lunch section is a touch loose climb out. Of course, it's better to keep wheeling all the way through Red Neck Millionaire Blvd.
Below (further down the ravine) Ate My Lunch is another section that we've cut an entrance to. Of course, this entrance is a winch down the hill (advised), then it gets very nasty with no vehicle traffice to speak of. It's about 100-150 yards down from the Ate My Lunch entrance. Once down there, they only thing getting you out is you, the rig and your winch if/when needed. Now below that section is even more fun stuff, but it's only been hiked and we haven't cut an entrance for any of that except way down at the bottom where some major work needs to be done to make real progress. It goes on and on for a long way. It's all the same ravine and part of the Gobbler's Knob Trail.

Thanks for the info. We've run RNMB several times and had heard of the harder stuff but was getting confused at what was what. I guess that there are several trail names (Ate My Lunch, RNMB, any others?) that make up Gobblers Knob. Is the left at the Y take you all the way to the bottom of the ravine and then you start back up or do you drop into the ravine head down the ravine and back track up? Need to get down there and try this out again. Sounds like you could make a day of just "The Knob".

A couple of us are going back out on the 27-29th (February) to finish a couple of the harder trails we started last month. We may also start a new one, depending on how fast we make progress.
There was a trip report posted about the last major work run at: http://rubiconownersforum.com/phpbb3...99&hilit=daisy You may need to register to view it though. I saw you posted on that site also.

Basically Mike(Okie ) has said they will be working every weekend. Like Lance said they are working on some 5's or so but Mike and them are building a very long 2-3 that is soft top and hard top friendly. The key is to get over on the ROF forum and sign up if you are going. They have a meeting time and place. I know from building Green acres these are critical so you can get everyone together and going.

weekend.. at least Friday & Saturday. Mostly likely half day Sunday.
Donnie had invited anybody interested from FWD-FWD. At least one of us will need to meet them up at the gas station on Saturday morning. Who knows what the turn out will be.
