Best and hardest trails in moab

I was looking online and the sheer number of 4 or 4+ trails in moab is just insane. Im going to be in moab for 3 and a half days. I would like to run as many 4s as possible. Which ones are the most fun? Which trail is the one with that huge mountain you drive down that is incredibly steep? My plan is to run

Hells Revenge (not even up for questioning)
Moab Rim

But even if those trails take a full day that still leaves me 1.5 days. I was planning on running a 3 or something on the last day just something nice. What do you guys recommend for the last two trails and is Moab Rim a fun trail?

The best trails aren't in Moab. They are at BFE. They use a different rating system, as in 1-10. Hell's revenge is a freeway. Nice scenery but not hard. If you want to stay in Moab area trails, look into Pritchette, behind the rocks. These can be run back to back with a good crawler and no stopping. You really need more than 3 days. A week is not enough for me, but I only get to go once or twice a year.

how far away is this BFE? and what the hell is BFE?

i wish i had more than three days but i have to drive from colorado to cali to get my crawler and spend a couple days at home... which kills wheeling time. If you guys give me the names of good trails at BFE im sure i can find it online. But i dont even know what BFE stands for so i cant really look it up.

i could be wrong, but i think the really steep one you're thinking of is called Lions Back (the one in all the videos of the bronco losing brakes and slamming nose first into the ground?) if thats he one it was closed several years ago ... deemed to be a hazard and too dangerous or something like that ....

britney spears
greenday
coyote (although it's closed now)
numerous play areas.

just be sure to throw some money into the donation can for Jeremy.

pritchette is a great trail- probably my favorite. excellent scenery, challenging, and you have the option run Behind the Rocks if time permits. There's also a fun sand pit to play in on the way out.

like most have said- the rim is fun, but it's not hard at all.

hell's revenge has the 'escalator' and the hot tubs to play in. again, fun, but not super hard.

You have spares for that 44? If so look into helldorado. There is an upper and lower. The end of upper loves to break things....

Rusty Nail was one of my favorites outside of BFE. Moab Rim and Hells Revenge were fun but not difficult accept for a few obsticales that were optional (hot tubs, etc)

When did Coyote get closed? I have some revenge that I need to seek on that trail!

I believe lions back was closed because the property between lions back and the road was private, and was recently sold to a developer who plans to build condos on it, same as the dump bump.

Ok, cool. hadnt gotten that info ... searched a little for the answer, but never could come up with any definative answer. i'd seen chatter somewhere about it being too dangerous and shortly after saw that it was oficially closed ... would have liked to get a chance to run it before it closed though (as long as my brakes worked real well)

BFE is on the south side of town...maybe 5 miles out. The highway will climb up a hill and then it bends to the right...shortly after, turn left. Head down that road for a bit and you will see the entrance to BFE. Lower Helldorado is closed, Upper is at BFE. Ask for help at Moab Outpost if you need better directions.

Lower has been closed for a few years, iirc. Upper is a kick in the ass. Lower wasn't that hard when we ran it (10 years ago) Green Day is a blast. Just the BFE area has some good challenges, its just an open play area. Coyote was tough, but well worth it. Took me 4 tries before I could actually make it all the way through.

Poison spider / gold bar / golden spike isn't bad, kinda long, but has some good obstacles. Plan on spending a whole day running all 3. (Golden Stairs, Golden Crack, Double Whammy)

Pritchett can be ran in a few hours if your with a small, well equipped group. If there is anyone ahead of you at the Rocker Knocker, you could spend hours waiting to get through the last part of the trail. (Rocker Knocker, Rock Pile{I think})

Seven Mile Rim is a decent series of trails (Monitor & Marrimac) that are mild, with 1 -2 decent challenges (Wipe Out Hill)

Metal Masher wasn't bad either. There are 2-3 good obstacles on it (can't remember what they are)

Gemini Bridges is a good scenic drive (can be made in addition to the Metal Masher trail)

I recommend you get Charles Well's Moab book. It has directions to all the trails (almost, anyway). I haven't used my new 2nd edition book yet, but I have wore out the last 2 original editions.

Just got back earlier this week. Already making plans to go back. Figured out why 3 days isnt enough. Going to spend a week this fall hopefully. We ran Cliffhanger the first day and a bit of poison spider that afternoon. Then ran poison spider-golden spike-golden bar the next day. That makes for a long day with one guy flopping on his side. Then rotating an axle tube. Came out in the dark. Sure changes the trail in the dark but yet pretty cool. Just slows it down some finding the trail. Ran pritchett on saturday then. What an awsome trail. Better have some spare parts with and some time unless you are built to the hilt. I busted both front spring pins and am now running zuk body bolts that got me out. Only had to throw the winch out once though while not taking the very few bypasses. Pretty happy overall. Ran the second half in the dark too. Got a late start while waiting for the other guys axle housing to get welded. He is back to one weld holding his junk together again!
