reposting for a friend, Michael has been missing since Tuesday, July 19th. If anyone is heading out to the lakes or going four wheeling please be on the lookout for his red Rubicon Jeep, license plate 797VZS. He was last seen in the 75th Ave/Deer Valley area. Michael has a skull & crossbones

Dear Friends of Michael Grenley - it is with the deepest regret that I must inform you of the passing of Michael Grenley. We have taken great care to attempt to notify all close friends and family members via direct contact. Undoubtedly, some of you will have been missed. Facebook is not the ideal vehicle for communicating such difficult news. At the request and on behalf of Missy, we would like to express how grateful we are for the tireless search efforts conducted by friends, colleagues, community, and law enforcement. We are particularly grateful to the Yavapai County Search and Rescue Team for bringing Michael home. This will undoubtedly be a long journey of recovery for the Grenley family. We request your understanding, patience, and privacy as the family grieves. To that end, we have suspended comments in this forum. That sucks! Apparently he went out alone wheeling and didn't make it back. Jeep got the front axle stuck on a rock in a remote location from what I read on the VJC thread.

I often go out alone as well but try to stick to well-known, well-traveled routes. May not be the smartest move, but there's a lot to be said for having the place 'all to yourself' and letting your thoughts wander.

On the other hand, most of the places I go with people it would take weeks for a rescue party to find us anyway...so it comes down to making smart decisions and being prepared for anything.
