I have a 2004.5 Ram 3500 diesel.

I would like to know if the YG C9.25-342R gears will fit.

I ask because Dodge offers 3.42 gears, but say anything older than 2005
needs a different carrier

Yes the YG C9.25-342R will install into your vehicle with out an issue. There is no deck height changes in the 9.25 AAM front. I believe the dealership would state that because the 3.42 ratio was not a factory option in 2004.5
