APRIL 6, 2010 • BANNING, CA — Poison Spyder Customs continues to develop products to fortify the current model Jeep JK with the necessary equipment for hardcore rockcrawling.  The latest introductions in the Poson Spyder JK product line address the JK’s vulnerable rear corner area.  Crusher Corners™ and Crusher Flares™ for the JK may be used separately or together to armor the Jeep in cold hard steel.

Poison Spyder Crusher Corners™ provide full body corner protection, extending from the door opening to the tailgate of the Jeep. Made of rugged 1/8” steel, Poison Spyder JK Crusher Corners™ are unique in the market as they provide full coverage while conforming to the compound curves and subtle contours of the JK body lines. Competitors’ full corner protectors are brake-formed from flat steel, and may require the removal of large swaths of the stock sheetmetal in order to install them. Poison Spyder Crusher Corners™ are tool-formed to match the JK body lines in a close-fitting overlay, requiring no cutting of the body except to clearance for the flush-mount LED lights (on LED-ready versions). JK Crusher Corners™ may be used with the stock JK fender flares or with Poison Spyder’s JK Rear Crusher Flares™ for the ultimate combination of rear corner armor.

Poison Spyder Rear JK Crusher Flares™ are all-steel, precision-fabricated replacements that easily bolt on in place of the flimsy factory flares.  JK Crusher Flares™ provides tire coverage for up to a 40” tire (minor trimming of the inner sheetmetal may be required for tire clearance). The Crusher Flare™ mounting plate is made of CNC laser cut 3/16 plate steel that has been brake-formed to fit the contours of the JK’s flare mounting surface like a glove. The flare rails are CNC-bent 1.5” X .120 wall DOM structural tubing, with a fender surface made of 1/8” laser-cut plate steel. For added structural rigidity when hardcore wheeling, JK Crusher Flares™ come with a 4-piece Inner Brace Kit. The Inner Braces are engineered to provide the internal structure to keep the Crusher Flares™ from deforming the Jeep’s outer tub sheetmetal on impacts. The result is a Crusher Flare™ installation that will withstand serious hits from the rocks.

“Both of these products have been extensively tested in extreme conditions,” says Poison Spyder’s president, Larry McRae.  “My personal 4-door JK is our R&D platform,” McRae adds.  “We’ve seriously beat on it from Moab to the Hammers, and the Crusher Corners™ and Crusher Flares™ have handled everything we could throw at them.”
