They figured class 4 would draw more competitors last season when they decided to go for the title but the class did not take off as they hoped. Ensenada, Baja California - Shaffer Motorsports was optimistic heading into the Baja 500. Their win in San Felipe had them just six points out of the championship points lead and both the Transfer Case Express, Torchmate racecar and the team were working better than ever. OAKLAND, CA     MARCH 13, 2012   Shaffer-Motorsports car #401 won the San Felipe 250 in Class 4 last weekend in Baja, Mexico.  After a long week of prerunning and a 24 hour turn around to the US for a rebuilt transaxle, the team made the mad dash to the finish line with only 12 minutes separating them from second.
