The
weather out here in Johnson Valley is unforgiving. The wind
is howling, and the temperatures are rapidly dropping. Mother
Nature threatens to douse us with rain, but she hasn't so
far. It's currently in the low 30's, but feels much colder
due to the brutal wind.
We
are camped out on the front row of some awesome looking
obstacles. Shannon Campbell pulled up a few minutes ago
and cried "Holy $%#* it's way to cold for us lizards
out here!" He took a quick look at the courses and
headed back to town to his warm hotel room.
The
courses look to be very technical, with some awesome bonus
gates. Lots of tight cracks, crevices, drop off and climbs
are the name of the game this weekend. I have never been
to this area of Johnson Valley, but I can tell you that
it is an incredible playground!
The
Weather Channel forecasts clear sunny days for Saturday
and Sunday, so hopefully the wind will die down and we will
have tshirt weather for the competition tomorrow.

The 2003 Rock Crawling season was incredible. The technology,
the talent, and the courses would have been unimaginable
only a couple of years ago. We saw John Bundrant turn the
rock crawling world upside down with the help of "Tiny"
and his spotter, Larry McRae. We got to see other top teams
duke it out all year long. The courses were completely insane,
and UROC and RCAA decided to merge.
Can
you believe the 2004 season is only days away? Rich Klein
and the CalROCS crew are wasting no time by kicking off
the 2004 season with their 3rd annual "Put up or Shut
up" event in the Cougar Buttes area of Johnson Valley,
CA.
Top
drivers from all over the country are ready to do battle
in this unique event. This event is a "run what ya
brung" event meaning there are no classes, and everyone
competes together. Drivers such as Tracy Jordan, Dustin
Webster, and John Bundrant will be there battling for the
gold.
"We're
lookin forward to gettin it!" Says Red Bull RockIt
driver, Dustin Webster.

Pirate4x4.Com
will be on site in full force giving you updates every other
hour. We will have current scores, photos, and blow-by-blow
info on the action. At the end of each day we will have
a high quality video clip of the action, as well.
Drivetrain
Direct and Superior Axle & Gear are our wonderful sponsors
for this event, so we encourage you to give them your business
so we can keep bringing you the most up to date, comprehensive
coverage on the Internet!
