Wednesday: Part of Pritchett, and Poison Spider
By Lance & Charlene
We decided to do a Pirate4x4 and JKOwners run today that would start at the Moab Café. We had breakfast at 10am, bought Rockstars and Doritos for lunch, and then headed out to the Pritchet Canyon trail.
We had a pretty solid group of capable wheelers with us, so it would be a great day to take on a level 5 trail. The line up consisted of the Poly Performance Crew, the Tube Shark Buggy of JT Taylor, the 4 Wheel Parts Buggy with Mustard Dog family, and the JKOwners Florida Contingent including Hit Money.
Well, everyone else had the same idea to run that trail. So we ended up in a complete traffic jam. The 4 Wheel Parts group that had gone in a bit earlier had already turned around and was headed off to Poison Spider…Camo turned around with them and headed off that way too.
We waited for about an hour, it was fun to talk, but it was also frustrating to have a group of vehicles that was not up to snuff on a level 5 run hanging up the groups that were. So, we turned around and decided to go head to the Pizza place for lunch. Perfect idea, it was already 1pm and we only did about a mile on trail. Yummy! Great times.
We were all pretty disappointed that we hadn’t made it out on a trail, so after talking, we decided to hit Poison Spider also. The JK’s ran out there, JT and Mustard Dog unloaded really quick and then we started rock racing in JK's. It was awesome.
We started on the trail at 3:05 pm. We were running hard. Lance and Hit Money made the "wrong" turn...or a turn that was different than the rest... and Lance officially declared us lost at 4:15. Shhhheeet we had to be to dinner by 6:30, this is work ya know. So we started to back track, which we ended up figuring out wasn't backtracking. We finally found our group and JT and Mustard Dog gave us a Rock Buggy cat and mouse show. JT certainly has the power house over Mustard Dog!
We JK raced out of Poison Spider and made it back out by 5:20. Not only did we get unlost (literally, I even got told to pull out the map! and we went out on a fin to see if we could see the trail) but we also had time to play around and got back out.
Another excellent day on the trail. We have to remember that it is Easter Jeep Safari week and there are a lot of wheelers here of all levels. I think it is great! Come out and play…this is certainly an event you need to put on your list of things to do!
