The awards have been handed out and the smiles
are locked in place while even more hearts are crushed. While
this is a sport that has it's dominating forces landing in
the top spots consistantly, this event brought out several
new names. Many of those names are creeping steadily up the
ranks and those top forces need to start looking over their
shoulders. I was often asked, "Who the heck is ___?"
after someone saw or heard an update. My answer was usually,
"I don't know. Maybe they came from an East Coast competition?"
Yup, the faces are changing and so is the
sport. UROC announced they are merging with RCAA. Craig Stumph,
founder of the most successful series in the sport of rockcrawling,
is retiring from UROC and hoping to compete again soon. Rigs
are constantly being reshaped and re-equiped in the constant
struggle of a two man team to conquer unforgiving rock formations.
Next year should be interesting to say the least. Look out
everyone big things are on the way.
While who won in the divisions is highly important,
we want to take this opportunity to congratulate Ken Shupe
on being the man that walked away with the bounty money that
was on Money Pit's head. You can watch Ken pillage the feared
climb in our video clip.
The final rankings for SuperCrawl II have
some surprises and some expected placing. Here's the list
for you to find your favorite.

CHAMPIONS!
9/27/2003 8:00P.M. CST - DAY 2
Believe it or not the HUGE boulder shown in
the picture above will later in the day be shoved down the
hill after the many rigs that have nudged it during the course
of the event!
9/27/2003 7:30P.M.CST - DAY 2
At this time the unofficial winners for the
3 divisions are:
Jon Bundrant - Unlimited
Jeff Mello - Super Stock
Aaron Clough - Legends
In a daring attempt to steal the lead from Jon Bundrant, Ken
Shupe decided to try for a spotter ride bonus on his last
event, Course 9. By doing this, if he aced the obstacle, he
would have pole vaulted soundly into first place. The gamble
back fired however, when he ended up rolling and giving up
40 points.
When we left the competition site to make
this update UROC had just posted the scores after all rigs
had completed 9 events. Some teams have finished all 10 courses,
but UROC only updates scores after all courses have been completed
by stages. So here they are.

9/27/2003 12:45P.M. CST - DAY 2
UROC has changed the way they are updating
scores. We went to get the first update and had to become
temporary UROC staff to help round up the score cards necessary
for them to tally the totals.
After over coming an upload connection issue,
we are back up and running and giving the scores here first.
Becca Webster started the day on top of the
Legends Class but an untimely roll at the top of one of her
courses set her back 40 pts. and dropped down quickly in the
rankings.
Meanwhile Shannon Campbell walk his way up
where many had gone down in shame only to have his fuel relay
go out and loose all engine function. With 10 seconds left
on the clock, he and his spotter tried to push the rig across
the finish line only to be denied and suffer the 40 point
hit.
The FTM team running the Ford Ranger we speced
out for you in earlier coverage has become an Inline 5 as
the had to pull a rod out. They are taking 40's on the courses
to avoid the 50 pt. no show hit, and saving the rig for the
Money Pit run.
