9/27/2003 1:15A.M. CST - DAY 1
And for you fellas that just love a good set
of boulders without the adornment of an ugly ol' rig . . .

Now we REALLY must get some sleep so that
we can bring you tomorrows action. Remember to check out our
sponsors and thank them for supporting our efforts to bring
you updates and pictures of the action out here in St. George,
UT. Don't forget to let us know what you think of the coverage
so far. We know we will only get better and your input will
make that happen.
9/27/2003 1:05A.M. CST - DAY 1

We received questions about the new FTM Ford
Ranger that we posted an earlier picture of. We grabbed one
of the crew and got some of the
4-1-1 for those inquiring minds.
Motor - I6
Tranny - Dodge Automatic
Transfer - Atlas II
Drivelines - 6 States
Axles - DynaTrac 60's F/R
Gearing - 5:36
Lockers - Detroit F/R
Cutting Brakes - F/R
Chassis - Custom Built Bill Force Chassis from FTM
Skins are for a Ford Range
9/26/2003 11:45P.M. CST - DAY 1
We took time out to chat with Shannon Campbell
this weekend about his new rig. The specs on this leaner,
meaner machine are as follows:
Engine - LS1
Tranny - Power Glide
Transfer - 5.0 Atlas
Axles - 9" Curries
Tires - 40" Goodyear MTR's . . .and they are already
siped!
Cutting Brakes - Front and Rear
Weight - 2650 lbs

This rig took 2 weeks and 5 days to build
from the ground up. SuperCrawl is its debut event. The team
practiced one day in Gilbert, AZ and one day in St. George
before this compeition.
Kimber - What was your goal in building this
new rig?
Shannon - "To reduce the center of gravity and bring
the weight down. The old rig weighs 3250."
Kimber - What is your real world expectation
from this event?
Shannon - " Number 1, of course."
Kimber - Who do you think is your number one
competitor standing in your way?
Shannon - " Tiny is the one to beat."
Kimber - What is the one wakness the rig has
coming into this event?
Shannon - "The converter needs a little more stall so
that I can have more control. They (Hughes) are working on
it now."
Kimber - What are you expecting from the courses
this year?
Shannon - " Someone told me its a real, twisted cone
fest out there."
Kimber - Since this is a single seater, what will you do on
the "spotter ride option" courses?
Shannon - "We'll go for the bonus points."

Kimber - What series' are you planning on
competing in next year?
Shannon - "We'll do RCAA, UROC, and EROC."
Kimber - So you've got a new rig AND a new
spotter? How long has he been with you?
Shannon - "Mike Dieu took my brothers place. Mike spotted
for me once at a UROC competition and had been wheeling for
about a year prior to that."
Kimber - How is he doing compared to your
Brother?
Shannon - " He'll let me do the driving. He's a lot calmer
which let's me be calmer and he keeps me from doing something
stupid."
Kimber - So now that you've spotted once,
what do you think of it?
Mike - "It's a lot of work. Definately a difficult thing
being a spotter."
Kimber - What would you say is the hardest thing about it?
Mike - "Thinking ahead of the driver to get him lined
up where he needs to be."
Kimber - Have you driven the rig?
Mike - "No."
Kimber - Why not?
Mike - "I don't fit in it! I need more of a man sized
Jeep."
Kimber - What is your realistic goal for this
event?
Mike - "Well I'd like to win, but would settle for top
5."
Kimber - How is this different from the trail
riding you've done?
Mike - "There's no pressure on the trails. It's all about
fun."
Kimber - How do you like stacking rocks?
Mike - "I'm opposed to the spotter doing anything. (laughs)
Stacking can help sometimes and others the drive spits them
out and it's a waste of effort."
Kimber - What do you think about the forcasted
heat?
Mike - "Heat isn't gonna be a serious concern. I work
in construction back home in Arizona all the time."
Kimber - How do you feel about waiting for
your next course?
Mike - " Sometimes if you don't have to wait it's a disadvantage
because you can't watch the course ahead of time. About a
2-3 rig wait seems good. Too many rigs, and it gets boring."

There were 5 scores that UROC was unable to
provide accurate totals for on their final course. they were
short the final course tally for: Clay Egan,Tony Kasabasich,
Nate Williams, Troy Myers and Brandon Feldt. therefor these
drivers scores only reflect 4 course driven instead of 5 like
the other scores you see above.
9/26/2003 5:30P.M. CST - DAY 1
Team Shaffer/Clifford has tried the Money
Maker and gave up one of the most spectacular rolls of the
day. They went over once and landed on their side and were
able to flop it back onto its rubbers. They then went head
long back at it attacking the climb with a vengence, only
to be denied yet again by the mighty rock.

Tracy Jordan is now missing a tooth after
attacking one course and slamming in to solid rock. His head
was thrown forward and when it came back up onto his shoulders
he was sporting a Big Gapper up front. This didn't stop him
though as he went on to finish without his spotter on the
other end of the strap to pull him through.
Creighton King is still in it and scoring
within the top 10 after his earlier woes turned out to fixable.
Jon Bundrant was the man to beat coming into this event and
he still is. Tiny is walking flawlessly through the courses
under Jon's guidance andLarry McRae's spotting.

it up for the day are below.

Here's some pictures from today's action so
far. Ken Shupe has been the first to climb the Money Pit and
made it look easy. Ken Blume has promised to tame the beast
and Brandon Gillen is going at it right now in an attempt
to take the money and run.

The above picture is just for you manly men
who believe the girlies have to go with wheelin. There's a
few more coming up too.

And for those of you into EXTREME GOLFING
. . . . Here's a golf cart that you can really use your driver
in.

We are off to get the next set of scores for
you guys. Look for entire picture galleries of todays action
tonight after we get back to the base camp of Casa De Clifford.
Thank you for your support and especially to those who have
sponsored our coverage this weekend. Please take time to check
them out when your needs are for a product they offer.
9/26/2003 3:43P.M. CST - Day 1
Most teams have completed 3 of 5 courses for
the day. Mike and Lance have a 40 due to a roll on course
10. They turned around and got the lowest score of the day
on their next course which gained some lost ground for them.
Creighton King in the Super Stock Class is out due to a blown
tranny. Rick Beard in the Legends division is also done for
the day. There are still several roll-overs occuring. No one
has tried the Money Maker yet as they are all preserving their
rigs for the final days competition. UROC is telling us they
expect the price on this "Dare Yuh to Try" obstacle
to go up by the end of tomorrows event.

We had hoped to give you a list of all teams, drivers and
spotters, but we were unable to get this info in a data file.
We have been given a list but in the interest of keeping the

the names in after the days courses are completed. In the
mean time, we'll be giving you the top 10 from each class.

10:15A.M. CST - Day 1
As
the day gets started here in ST. George, UT for the 2nd annual
SuperCrawl, teams are lining up and tackling last minute repairs.
Amy Bulloch is back to defend her World Champion 2002 Limitied
title. The heat already has teams, judges, and spectators
sweating and the sun isn't high in the sky yet.

Rick Beard was the first to start the event
off. After a wicked hopping sessions trying to conquer the
first of many vertical climbs this years event has to offer,
he had to take a take the dreaded 40 pts. do to rear driveline
breakage.

From there on the sounds of engines revving
beyond governors and rock knawing on metal skid plates could
be heard from every course. While there have been some good
scores so far, the carnage has prevailed and if teams like
UROC's Series '03 Winner, Dean Bulloch, went unscathed in
the damage department, it has been often at the cost of timing
out and still scoring the nasty 40. Make no mistakes, 40's
are happening in multiples for the various teams. courses
are little longer than in the past but times are very short
and the cones give no mercy.

The rigs are starting off looking shiny and
straight for the most part. Including the new FTM Ford Ranger
and Team Shaffer's newest rig piloted by Josh Burau.

We are also being treated to multiple wheel
stands and tires hangin precariously in the air as the teams
try to balance their way through some serious off camber obstacles.
Flex is definately your friend in these course layouts as
well as a very steady and patient throttle foot. Curt Hildebrand
showed us how this is done on his first obstacle as well as
Allen Ball.

Stay with us as we get ready to bring you
our first set of scores from the SuperCrawl II.
