It seems like everytime I watch a new video, they get better and better. I'm not sure why, maybe it's the better rigs, the tougher courses, or maybe the production companies are getting better at what they do. Whatever the reason, RP Films has set the bar to new levels. "Haulin or Crawlin" is hot off the press, and I was lucky enough to preview one of the very first DVDs.

What makes this video so much better than previous 4x4 videos? That's an easy answer. Variety. This video isn't only about rock crawling competitions. Of course it does have its fair share of the most hard core rock crawling footage ever seen, with the world's top drivers like Walker Evans, Johnny G, Jason Paule, Mitch Guthrie, Women's RCAA champ Kelly Clifford, and more. This video has other stuff, too. It has real world rock crawling. RP Films went out to the trails we all like to run for fun - Moab, The Rubicon Trail, Sierra Trek, etc. That's not the kind of footage you expect to see in 4x4 videos these days. And I'll tell you what - it's about damn time. I probably love rock crawling competitions more than anyone, but it's fun to see a Toyota truck smash it's way through Little Sluice (with the help of RCAA champ Mike Shaffer bashing him from behind). Not only is there rock crawling, but there's some awesome footage of some of the big dawgs fully getting it in the sand. Ever seen a 600hp rock buggy blow up a sand hill? Want to see a shortstar V6 smoke a Ram Jet 350 in a sand drag?

RP Films put together quite the high energy soundtrack for this album. Bands such as Dis.da.in, Skitzo, Disarray, Osmium, Voodoo Temple, and more are rockin hard throughout the movie. I am not a huge metal (or whatever you call this kind of music) fan but it compliments the energy of the movie well. The RP team did a good job of blending the sounds of smashing sheetmetal with the sounds of a whaling guitar perfectly.

In addition to the great wheelin action, what movie would be complete without some female mud wrestling, flying Jeep Grand Wagoneers, illegal street racing 4 rigs wide, and insane snow mobile jumping? Haulin' or Crawlin' has got it all covered!
