Ok Mieser, here we go....

Starting a new thread….I can not believe all this build BS again….ahaha.
For the ones that don't understand why I`m starting all over again, I will recapitulate the events of the last year.
After attending Ultimate Adventure 2013, I left my Flatty at Pewe´s house. The plan was to keep it there for 1 year (that was the permitted time of the temporary admission) and use it on my continuos trips to Ca.
Well, in october I was getting ready to fly to Ca for work and make a trip to the Hammers with Rick and a few other friends. One week before taking off, I received a phone call from a chilean guy (car collector) that fall in love with my Jeep and the story behind.
He told me several times that he "needed" my MB and I answered every time "is not for sale". Long story short, I threw him a BIG number thinking that he would say, "no way, I understood the message" but instead, he asked me to ship it back to Chile right away.
Whatever….here I am, writing a new story. I still have mixed feelings. In one hand, I`m sad to let her go. After all, it was a really fun jeep to drive, VERY reliable, it got a lot of looks and the story behind was kind of cool. In the other hand, business is business and I have the opportunity to build my dream Flatty and still have coins for the pocket.

So….what it matters.

Specs:

New Repro MB body.
Custom 4x2 Chasis
Currie F9´s, 4,11 gears, Detroit at the rear, ARB up front.
Atlas 4 Speed, 2,0/2,72/5,44 ratios.
Rossler TH 400.
LSX 454 Engine (LS7 Intake).
17" Walkers
37" Krawlers.
Front suspension: 3 link + Panhard, FOX 2,0 COs.
Rear suspension: 4 link, FOX 2,0 COs.
WB: 100"

Weight is a KEY factor on all my builds, so I will try to make this one as light as possible. Target is below 4K; 3,6K will be great, 3,8K is still ok.

We started last week. At this point, we are working on the frame. We already cut the body to add 10" at the door (kind of suck to kill a new body, but well…).
I will try to post all details of the build with pics. I will be more than happy to receive all your good ideas and discuss any stage of the build.

Regards
Sebastian

The day I received the body kit

Looks good. I prefer option 1 I like the look of the back covered. I have a quick question on your old build On the steering you left the tierod under the leave springs which is how I'm set up right now And the drag link going to the passenger side high steer did you use the hole closest to the grill or the back hole and were the two bars stacked on top of each other or separated a little? if i use the front hole the drag link is directly over the tierod. I just cruised through all your pictures to see if I could get a look at it but to hard to tell. I'm hoping you could remember. I'm trying to set my steering box thanks!

If I`m not wrong I think the drag link was stacked almost on top of the tie rod.
This is the only pic I found...hope it helps (yeah, those shitty nuts were replaced with some good ones later)

Ok, now into the comments....as you see, I got the fuel cell and seats yesterday. The airline raped me with the freight, but I did not have a choice...the Jeep needs to be running in 5 more weeks.
Very happy with how the cell fitted...theres more than enough space left to put a small bench seat for my kids.
As far as the seats goes, it was like going back on time with my old MB :D...its feels good to have them again.
I dont have pics, but at the end of the day we had the steering linkage almost done.
The plan was to start the cage yesterday, but we need to move the Jeep to another shop for that and it was raining...I dont want to see my chassis all rusted :shaking:
I took off the next 2 weeks to work only in the Jeep....hopefully we will have good progress.

this thing is so cool awesome work like usual. i had a question for you im working on a jeep similar to what you had before the willys you sold and was wondering i bought the off road movie ultimate adventure 2012 just to check out your jeep and was wondering if there was anything you would change on that willys what would it have been ?

By following this thread you will get all your answers I'd say.... :)

So far it looks like a longer wheelebase and more power with better axles is what's been changed from his last one.

Along with more up travel in the suspension for the front....maybe the rear too?

Oh and sway bars front and rear.

You nailed it !
In this order....

Better front suspension (mostly up travel)
Longer WB for better ride and handling (big power and short WB is not a good combo)
Stronger Tranny and T Case

Honestly speaking, the axles are just a whim....I only broke once with the D44s and it was a stock front axle shaft. Then I installed Chromo Moly in all 4 corners and never had a problem.

The power from my old MB was good enough for 90% of the time. The huge dunes in the Atacama Desert suck any hp of your motor....that and the fact that this MB will weight more made me go for a bigger powerplant.
Anyway.....I am installing just a massaged LQ9 for now, because I need to have the jeep running in 4 more weeks and this engine was laying around.
I organized our own version of the Ultimate Adventure, called Twisted Andes Adventure, which it will be held next september. The LSX 454 will be swapped in after the event.

Hey Svaras love your build. I read in one of your posts that you have a Chilean version of the ultimate adventure that your going on in a couple of weeks. Is there any youtube videos of the area you'll be wheeling in, all I can find is what looks like an open desert bowl. Are you going to do a Gopro video? Love to see some of that Chilean action! Sorry about my pic cluttering up your page, it's hard to describe things accurately without pictures. The bed is flat except for the shock towers.

There is a track bar behind the shock so the upper links are not triangulated, they set directly under the frame. There is 6 1/2" between the frame and upper links. The shocks bottom out 6 1/2 also. I had to raise the floor 4" to get the tank up so the dif. would quit bottoming out. I've been trying to lower the rig, it's always been top heavy.

Ok...then I will go lower just to win against you lol....
Yes...at this point I only have the lids.....I will work on something, but it´s gonna be difficult having the "C" pillars from the cage right over there.
Tomorrow we will assemble the cage and see.
I have not measured the travel yet.
