Well, new certainly doesn't mean it won't need repairs. But you'll at least be able to budge for them unlike with a used model without that warranty.

I can't imagine a Kia will last you any kind of "lifetime". Not because they can't be good cars, but more because of how they age due to being an appliance rather than a luxury.
I'm a Subaru fan. But I wouldn't touch a newer one. Especially the CVT models. Honestly, just forget about those cars. They're like a Jacket from REI. You're paying for an image. Not quality.
