CRAWLfest 2015 at Trudeau Park
CRAWLfest is back for its 4th annual, and it's gearing up to be the best yet!
Here is a promo movie that shows what the race on Sunday is all about. WARNING! This film is rated PG-13 for some foul language in the music.
CRAWLfest originated in 2011 as an event to cater to the offroad tube buggy type wheeler. The event is held on private property every "May 2-4" long weekend in Trudeau Park resort, Tweed ON. The resort provides great camping amenities with access to Lake Stocco with great rock crawling terrain all in one location. There is also a large hall with rooms onsite if camping is not your thing. 2013 hosted the addition of a TMR customs sponsered race up Crawl mountain on Sunday. The CRAWLfest area provides great terrain for all levels of 4x4 vehicles, and driver skill.
15 Trudeau Lane RR4, Tweed, ON K0K 3J0
2015 - May 16,17,18th
The park owner charges a $25 flat rate for camping all weekend. The park opens for camping Friday May 16th for early arrivals, and asks that be cleared out by Monday May 19th afternoon. Price is per person. Kids under 10 are free.
CRAWLfest driver entry is $50 flat rate for the weekend. This fee includes optional entry into the race on Sunday. Passengers are free, but must sign a waiver.
***For drivers only showing up for Sunday free crawl, and the TMR Bounty race the park owner has agreed on $15 a person to enter the park. He prefers people camp and stay, but I stress that some competitors cannot stay over night.**
Friday May 15th - Park opens for early bird camping, and setup.
Saturday May 16th - 9:00am CRAWLfest area officially opens for free crawl action. The Doomsday race is also held on this day from 10am - 4pm, and some areas will be closed to CRAWLfest vehicle traffic during the race. CRAWLfest area closes at 7 pm. Time to party!
Sunday May 17th - 9:00 am CRAWLfest opens for free crawl action.
- TMR bounty race flag drop at 1:00 pm sharp.
- At sun down CRAWLfest area closes. Party time again!
Monday May 19th - Pack up and head out.
The Doomsday "run for your life" event is a running marathon race through obsticale courses. If your into army style obstacle courses, and running, this weekend could be the highlight of your summer. Here is a link to the Trudeau park site, and info on Doomsday.
Vehicle tech and safety:
- Roll cage. Stock OEM, or better.**
- Fire extinguisher mounted securely in vehicle.
- One passenger only.
- 3 point belts, or better.
- No loose items in vehicle.
** If your vehicle is running an OEM cage it must retain its stock, or stock sized axles.
A simple front tie-in kit on a Wrangler would be adequate to pass this rule.
TMR Race Format:
Street Stock Class - Full bodied rigs with 33" tires, or smaller.
Unlimited Class - Anything.
Street stock may choose to run in Unlimited, but Unlimited may not run in Street Stock.
All registered drivers that want to run in the race are to line up at the start line for 1:00pm. We will do a quick vehicle inspection, name/numbering/classing, and then stage you to start. Every driver gets a flag drop start to attack the course to the finish line. Racers get at least one timed lap, and if they choose too, they may run up to 3 laps to better their time. Drivers can look at the scoring sheet to see the standing during the race. The race will be finished when everybody has ran 3 laps, or is satisfied with less. In 2014 with 16 competitors, we ran for 2.5 hrs.
The course is a mix of technical rock with incline, and declines. There is some tight turns with loose gravel sections. Trees and boulders everywhere. The course can be completed in a stock rig with 33" tires, but the fastest line to the finish is the most difficult line.
Prize for the Street stock class is a prize pack from TMR Customs.
Prize for the Buggy class is a CASH PURSE drawn from entry fees(minimum of $50), and a TMR Customs prize pack.
Prizes will be awarded after the race in the pit area.
If you, or someone you know wants to volunteer please stop by the vehicle registration area, and we will set you up. Volunteers just need to sign a waiver, and have a short briefing. In most cases we will need course marshals.
