Just a little work in progress.

I had to share, I am digging this! It was worth a night of little sleep... If only I had no job.

No plans for full exoskeleton. Just a brush/tree guard and maybe a rear spare tire holder.

Good luck on the cooling. Love the front tube work.

I am going to call it done on the fit up of the brush guard. I planned on some vertical pieces on the front corners, but it just looked crowded and out of place. Kinda lost the front corvette under a bunch of tubing.

This weekend I am hoping to pull it off (it bolts on now), weld it out, paint it, and bolt it back on.

A nice Overlander look "X2". Now I got myself thinking of an off road trailer to match. "C3 Pod" Need to find a salvaged corvette to cut up.

That is the best thing about projects like this. You just never know what they will evolve into. I want to do this for a living! Like in Hollywood somewhere. Build one, trash it in a movie, build another, trash it in a movie.

I don't know if I would have a brush guard on it, but if I would, it would look like that.

I finished the front brush guard! I'll bet there aren't that many corvette brush guards out there.

I don't know why, but it looks like some sort of S&M leather outfit on a smoking hot chick. Maybe it's the winch fairlead looking familiar...

A little crowbar influence and it fit like tight glove.

Good weekend! I found a deal on some vette parts from a lead at a local swap meet.

The beginnings of the C3 Pod camper trailer! Now the brain is on overtime again!

My wife still can't imagine it no matter how hard I try and explain it. Her only comment is always "it better be bear proof"

I almost got talked into a dual axle trailer. But I am still thinking that's just more tire $ and probably a tracking nightmare on the street and trail. I still plan on a 4 link suspension. Two independent 4 linked axles would be bad ass though.

I can't wrap my head around what it'd look like either, but the way the Vette turned out I'm sure it'll be badass. I also agree that two axles would not only be overkill, but also could be very annoying for the exact reasons you stated.

In all reality, I have no idea either, still changing in my head day to day. Making the details work always changes the directions. But I'll keep you all posted.

I still have a ton of work trying to figure out how to carry this full size spare.

I was in the Zone last night! I think I got a good concept down now.

This is revision 4. I'm getting a little tired of wasting tubing so this will have to stick. I tried putting the tire over the rear window, over B piller, and various other positions and it just looked like a massive half an exo skeleton.

One problem in this position. The damn gas tank lid. Can't see moving it without some major rework on the tank. I'll just have to see how snug the tire can be to the car and still be able to get a gas nozzle under it.

Maybe make the tire mount hinge off the top side so you can prop it up when you fill up the tank? Then just set it down and pin it when finished?

I would make a carrier that hinges off of the cross bar at the bumper and pin into the top bar, carrier bars going over the tire then you can flip it down to the ground to get to the spare and not have to pick it up with a crane to change it.

Then you have to lower the spare every time you fill up with gas?

Maybe make hinges at both the top AND bottom, both of which use hitch pins or similar to pivot. Then it can go either way?

Pinned at the top so you can lift it up just a bit to fill. Setup so you can pull the pin, lift, then stick the pin back in and it will rest in the lifted position.

Air struts would be cooler...

There was a build in the Cherokee section that did that. Was pretty trick.

I did put some thoughts into hinges and struts. I will play around with some pivot points when I have some more it welded out. Either way, it is a pain in the ass. My old man won't be able to fuel it up. Still thinking of just keeping it raised a bit. We will see.

Do you really feel the need to carry a spare? What your doing looks pretty good, but I have to wonder, you did a lot of work to make the roll bar fit inside the car. (And did a fantastic job, I might add) Now you'er going all Exo. Seems like you should try to follow the original lines of the Vette or go urban commando.

Why not carry the spare on your pop-up? A flat is not that common.

Could you relocate the gas cap to behind the corner filler panel between the tail light panel and rear quarter? Would clear the spare and may be easier to reach not being so high up. Shouldn't be too hard to modify the neck.

This thing is sick and the mini-exos, IMO, bring it to the next level.
