It seems that most of the people that have an issue with RG getting a spot are guys that don't race

Dave, keep doing whatever you think is best for your event. Trust me, we will keep showing up

I was wondering when RG would show up at KOH"if it is" him.
I have no idea how he'll do. What is his rock crawling experience?
I know he is best friends with the skinny pedal and that won't do him any good in the rock sections.
I keep waiting for Pastrana and Mcgrath to show up. I saw Degan there in 2010 I think he made 17 miles or something.
Kind of a honor for the multi time KOH home built racers to be out there with some big names.
Could be embarressing for RG if he breaks something in the rocks and gets drove over by an Ftoy.
I can't wait for this years race. Best race there is IMO.

All I have to add is qualifying will be exciting!!! RG vs. backdoor...no way RG will want to start at the back of the pack.

Big time

Personally I do not have a problem with a Big Name Racer in the mix, I am a amature just trying to make the show. The KOH has evolved over the past few year from a OG 13to what it is today. seems to grow every year and just keeps getting better. A big name will help grow the sport and add to the intrigue of the event.

I say bring it on! I can't wait to say I beat him.

are the whingers in this thread scared of getting beaten?

I guess we will find out how good he is when he qualifies for starting position. I'm guessing he will turn in a very competitive time.

Dave I have actually qualified for KOH every year btw...

fixed

my guess is that he'll do great in the race unless he breaks, or theres going to be a huge pile of scrap metal in the first canyon, no in between so either way it will be a great show

Actually he ran very strong and handed the car off at the 2nd pit to Cottin Rodd because his wife was about to go into labor.

Not that KOH needs to be legitimized anymore, it doesn't. Robby Gordon at KOH will be epic!
Cant wait for my friends to beat him.

I might have a biased opinion on the matter, but my take was always that getting guys like Cameron Steele, Brian Deegan, Rob mac, ect ect was part of the add on value to the Rock sports guys so they could meet them, learn a few things, and most of all Beat them!

This has been part of the plan since the beginning. People tend to forget KOH is a media event. It would be a bummer if Dave changed that for me, and I doubt he ever would. We worked for years to get some of these guys to come out and race. Like them or not, think its fair or not, Its a part of what Makes KOH cool.

My Kid has pointed out fairly blatantly that none of the Big name desert racers ever come back, and that they must be scared.

The only Big Name Desert guy that could win it all first shot is Walker Evans, but I would love to see RG give it a shot, I think it would pretty cool to see that. Hope it plays out.

Roger Norman came out several times.

Rob Mac and I have talked several times. He wants in bad.

Because of the qualifying spots, there are fewer top level cars not in the race. Those that have them would rather take their chances in the LCQ.

Everyone thinks the road map to being mainstream is based on TV.

its based on generating enough commerce that your partners/sponsors find enough value in the race to invest in a car for pure marketing reasons. Not the shop owner who wants to go racing. The business owner that hires a driver.

The big news isn't Robby Gordon. Its Jason Scherer.

[QUOTE=jbcruiser;13781109]knowing how to race. I don't like or dislike RG (if it is indeed him), but I know he is a whole hell of a lot more badass than me QUOTE]

you should know this...I believe you were sitting in the passenger seat when the car that he will be driving won the race..

despite the hype, he's a good guy. He's a great racer, and I'm honored to be in the same race, and same class as the guy. Dave would be foolish not to let someone with his status in the race.

Can you elaborate on Jason's situation? Isn't ASR building the car for him like Torchmate did for JT? If not, how is it different?
