Now I'm having strange dreams about UA. I had a dream the dirt dozen came out and there were four square body dodge trucks on it.

Yeah, there where a lot of 'where's your stuff?' jokes going around. All our food was pretty much in the tan box behind the spare tire along with the 'kitchen' kit. That placement worked out pretty well. We could get to a snack really quick on the trail or at a fuel stop.

We actually left our 'swag bag' bag in one of the trailers the 1st day. We took out enough shirts and whatever else we wanted for the trip, but we didn't need the bag, have room for it, and it wasn't waterproof. They give you a LOT of stuff the 1st day. I think we got something like 20+ shirts.

Now you have about a month till you find out if your going! Don't waste the time waiting. Prioritize your modifications so that if you DON'T get to go your still happy with adding some stuff over the next month.

That last month and a bit goes FAST if you get chosen!

There will be last minute stuff. Plan a work party with friends to help the weekend before you have to go. It's nice to spend the last few weeks packing instead of wrenching. Pack the vehicle yourself, preferably with the co-driver, so that you know where EVERYTHING is.

What a great line up!!
I wish we all could go. I'd like to wheel with all of those rigs.

Mieser, Are you in the running (get a call) for the return reader spot?

I've already started upgrading and have a list. I finished my sliders, started my anti-wrap bar, ordered 35 spline stubs and hubs, spare u joints, and a new rear driveshaft so I can keep my old one as a spare.

Packing is not a huge deal, I've done week long trips before, and I have a week long trip coming up in May that will be a good shakedown before UA if I get in. I hope my normal co pilot can go if I make it, if not I have a few other options.

Anyone have any guesses as to who will make the cut?

I think the 46 chevy is in, the Rover, HoS's scout and VooDoo's 40. After that I have no idea.

I've been collecting parts, that's about it, and built an anti-wrap bar.

I also went through and reorganized my toolbox on the truck.

Other than that waiting for a second call and start to build the cage.

I've just been cleaning up wiring, and making a few new interior panels and trying not to get my hopes up too much.

All I have been doing is harassing Tom Boyd every morning about his bronco being broken since 2010!

I have been meaning to post up in the IH forum...but have been too busy between work and working on the shit-box. Although today I took the rig out of the garage for the first time in a long time.

Even got the wife out in the rig and both boys. First time that we have all 4 been out in the thing at the same time We went for ice cream

I started a list in the garage after I found out I was in the Dirty Dozen:

Size: 72.2 KB

Spent the first week or so cleaning the garage and the car trailer...

Size: 83.9 KB

First drive out of the garage in a very, very long time. Hadn't checked out the bump-stop shock clearance since I modded the layout. Looks like I might need to lower the bump stop just a touch, or just fucking run it:

Size: 71.2 KB

The rig drives super nice on the Toyo's compared to the 15 year old TSL bias ply's that were on it. It literally drove like a Cadillac...and after cleaning out the carb a bit with some heavy runs...it is running great:

Size: 87.0 KB

The main reason for taking it out of the garage was to see where I am getting my tranny "moisture" from. This think likes to leave it's mark...and with a new skid plate that I am fabbing...I don't want to have it fill up with fluid:

I am a bit worried about the speed issue though. One thing I have not done with this rig for a while is street drive it. I "USED" to drive it to the trails as I didn't have a trailer or a tow rig. Now that I do...I re-geared it with 5.38's and it will be a fucking stretch to hit 60mph.

I am going to top off all of the fluids, throw in my gps map thingy, and see what speed it says I am doing on some freeway runs and at what RPM.

I am a bit worried...

That picture of your rear leaf springs looks like a ride height, I think you need new springs. Or fuck it run what you got!

Thankfully not at ride height I put it in LOW and had crawled the front up on a high berm on the passenger side to check flex. So that is the "twisted" view...

I was wondering about that when I read your rigs specs, I bet that caddy engine is going to be screaming at 60mph.

@ Mark- Buy some 40's/ 42's?

I don't think you have time/ space for an overdrive anywhere, correct?

I've got a similar concern for mine, I'm about 2700 at 60 with the 42's. It's higher than I'd really like but should be OK, the old AMC isn't exactly a high reving motor.
