Lost an upper link bolt which would have been an easy fix but the crank pulley got wasted in the process.

Bumps in the road, but those took you out of the race?

Broke our front spool...got it fixed
Rolled bad/dumb on wrecking ball...self recovered
Ran out of fuel on 19/20...borrrowed from another racer
Lost light bar just after 2b...still ran spooners/outerlimits and ran 55mph thru the dessert with rock lights on.
Finally rear diff self imploded 15 miles from the finish. Chucked the driveshaft with 1/2 the pinion still attached and locked up the rear end. All of our tools, spare tire, and jack had fallen off. We had to wait for the pit team to reach us and it was about 10:30 before we got the pinion out so the car would move in FWD.

Hit a large boulder in the desert at about 60 mph, causing the shocks to bottom out severely and pushed them completely through the hood. Busting the mount completely off. Can't say I've seen much 1.5x.25 DOM stretched apart before!

About 10 minutes after we did it, another racer hit the same rock, but not full on, causing a tire failure. So we helped them swap it and get back on the road. ...Our Maxxis Trepador and Trail Gear beadlock look to be still ok.

We pulled the shocks, tied everything down, and then drove out to HWY 247 at 50 mph to meet the trailer/recovery crew. Looks like only damage is shock mounts and ball joints. But I will most likely tear down/change everything on that corner....

EMC race, car 4827. Really long day with 3 flats and repeated electrical issues. Lost the first tire at RM17 trying to pace Brad Lovell, then proceeded to have circuit breakers fail what felt like every 10 miles. Ended up making fused jumpers for those that crapped out on us. I will never cheap out on electrical again. Stay away from Carling breakers if you want to be competitive... I'll be busting out the wallet for Klixon stuff.

Crossed the finish line at 8:30. We timed out, but we'll be back.

I know we helped a couple UTV teams continue on, one that we swapped all 4 coilovers on in the pit, one that had a bent driveshaft and crossmember. Our U4 car we retired at the start of lap 3. A transmission line blew, causing a fire, which melted some ECM wires. The decision was made to save the car and not recover it in the middle of the night.

Without winch we didn't want to become the car that plugged the trail. Respect for other competitors. Is that so bad?

4437 Sexton Offroad chunked 1st, 2nd, and reverse from the trans between remote pit 1 and the return to RP1. They limped back in 3rd gear, worked to swap it but missed the cutoff time.

4518 Lost 1st gear right after pit1. Pushed the fender into a power steering line before main pit. Shorted some wiring and had to push start it out of main haha. Turned out it was our compressor ground shorting on the charge wire, so no lockers as we got into the rocks. Fixed all that, then sheared driver side hub studs in wrecking ball. Called it a day at chocolate thunder.

power steering cooler shattered from hammering gate of clawhammer. bipassed cooler and filled steering. helped a few other competitors spot and winch, winched my car through.

trans blew right in the sand valley on Sledge bipass. felt like input snapped or something let go quick on impact of the bottom of valley. went from full power assults and good shifts to snap and no forward no reverse to the divorce case input. well experienced 4l60e. fluid good. boo.

Sorry to hear that, Ted. We broke our front passenger main leaf at about RM 20 during prerunning, but fixed it up as we had spare main leafs. Breaking it in the whoops at speed made for a sketchy ride though.

In the main event we quickly discovered a new weak link in the build. The third members were freshly rebuilt during race prep and held up through break-in and prerunning just fine, but by the time we got just past RP1 both diffs were shrapnel, and the rear blew a hole right through the casing.

I hated to see you in claw broke. I know the feeling, I shattered my pasanger axle shafts and steering knuckle in the exact same spot Tuesday while pre running. Didn't receive my ne rcv shaft till 6pm wed night. Me and crew was running on 2 hours sleep race day.

Oh and I know it sucks being broke and being a trail plug, but thanks for spotting us through, looked like you were making the best of it.

Does anyone know what happened to the Guys in the 4wheel parts car? We saw them hit a big rock trying to climb a hill and the driver was transported by helicopter.
I just want to know how he is doing.

Any vids? I've seen updates on FB on everyone (below), but had no idea what happened.

From FB - Brent is going to be in a brace for a while, Rob (Bender) has a fractured back but will be okay.
