Unit bearing shim

Just put a set of rcv axles in a dodge 2nd gen d60 and having a few issues with axle length. It would appear the long side unit bearing will have to be shimmed out approx .120 as the inner axle splines have bottomed out in the center. Has any one else experienced this?? Or had to space the unit bearings slightly. The knuckles do come with a shim and the rotor shield acts as a shim too.

Sounds like the RCV shaft is too long. Have you contacted RCV? Maybe you can trim the axle shaft, but for what they cost you shouldn't have to.

Agreed, for that money...they should fix their machining mistake.

curious

When I converted my knuckles I left out the shim for the unit bearing along with the dust guard, Dont both of those add up to the amount of length required? Assuming they reference OEM lengths im sure it includes those Lame spacers and the dust guard deal. But I would test their customer service and see what they say. According to the UTV guys they aren't too casual these days.
