Do i replace my 5.9 with the new 6.7?

I have an 06 3500 megacab dually with 155k miles. Nothing wrong with truck at all other than fading paint. I have babied this truck and stayed on top of all know issues and replaced things before they have issues. I run a Smarty programmer on #3 to take it easy on transmission which i had rebuilt 10k ago. I only use it to pull a 14klb toyhauler in winter time.

But im getting the itch for new gadgets and a single rear wheel truck that i can daily drive. Iím tired of driving my little Ranger in freeway traffic and not being able to see around other traffic.

Am i making a huge mistake with jumping into DPF and EGR emissions bullshit? I will not be deleting a new one if i go that route.

I've got a '19 2500 crew cab single wheel 4x4. I'm not a dodge guy at all but I have zero complaints about it. It is a lot better on fuel then I expected even though it still has all the emissions equipment. It is a bighorn and optioned out quite well for a non Laramie truck. everytime I use the engine/exhaust break i'm amazed at how well it works. the '19 engine is ALOT quieter then an 18. Hard to believe its a diesel by the sound lol.

I would not move into DPF etc and just keep the 5.9, you said you have a DD already so why change.

I didn't see in the description where he said it was wrecked I bet his truck would easily sell for more than twice that. The newer trucks are nice, I haven't driven a '19, but have had a '15 and now an '18 and can say they are pretty damn good. Rape some fan-boy for your 5.9 and buy you a nice new one

Well i made the deal last week after selling my 5.9 for 20k.

Picked up a new leftover 2018 Ram 3500 SRW 4x4 H.O. Megacab Laramie long horn for 61k. really nice truck inside and will pull my toyhauler nicely.

Only complaint now is the mushy throttle pedal and getting used to the Aisin 6 speed. Itís a whole different ball game shifting and not feeling it plus the engine is so quiet i can hardly hear the rpms.

I love my 14 Laramie. Very few issues overall considering how hard I’ve used it.

Sold my 05 for $25k, bought an 18 Laramie Mega Cab 3500 with the Aisin. The old truck is such a dog compared to to the new ones. Gotta love the nearly silent cab after a long car ride. Way less fatiguing.

Add some gadgets. Un-dually the truck. Run SRW wheels and a matching-width flatbed.
