First off, this isn't offroad related at all, flamesuit on...
I took the lock cylinders out of this truck to have them rekeyed (i never got a key when I bought it). Upon trying to reinstall them, I got the rod that connects the cylinder arm to the lock mechanism unhooked. The problem is that I can't really see what I'm working on, and its rather hard to feel my way around it as well. I'm not sure what my question is exactly other than does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it back together.
Side issue, in messing with the lock mechanism, I "tripped" the "jaws" that lock around the nader pin, now I can't get them to open up, so I can't even shut the door...Any suggestions there?
you have the interior door panel off right? Just reach in there, get the door lock cylinder started on the rod and then twist it into place... actually last time I did any I made damn sure the rods stayed out of the cylinder hole and did it all from the outside. As for the jaws, push on them while you push the door button from the outside and they should spring back open... Did you not ever mess with doors when you were a kid?
I have the interior panel off, that still only leaves two small holes to work through, and they aren't in the best location.
For the jaws, I fucked with those things endlessly as a kid and I still cant get this to spring open. The neighbor came over and couldn't get it either.
At the worst, you'll have to remove the latch mechanism to get a clear view of what you're working with if you can't get it hooked back up.
How much did it cost to rekey two door cylinders and have new keys cut? On my F350, I had a door lock that had seized up and I couldn't get it to work loose again. A whole new lockset, including ignition was just under $60.
Getting the mechanism out seems a bit tricky, I took the 3 screws out that are accessed from the outside of the door (against the "B" pillar). That got it to moving around, but I couldn't quiet get it out. I might just need a rest and to look at it with fresh eyes...
They made both locks match my ignition key for $30. He said one was seized up badly so he completely took it apart and cleaned it up. I thought it was a great deal until I ran into these issues.

Without pics, it's hard to know what you're seeing. I've never had any trouble R&R'ing these lock cylinders. Click this, study the pics, and read their captions:
The latch will never open if it's locked, so make sure the sill button rod is pulled UP. Then use either release. If the jaws don't spring open, spray some lube into it. It needs lube anyway.
