So that brings us to where we are today. Truck is now at 313,900 miles and more fun to drive than ever. Plans for rear suspension are "mostly" figured out, but ordering parts as money allows. The following is my plan, shoot holes in it, ask questions, or just follow along.

-Atlas Spring 2008-2016 F250 +5" performance pack (8" longer spring than OBS)
-SORD hanger kit with shackle flip (spring and hanger "should" net +4-5" without factory block
-Fox 2.5x18" external bypass shocks(through the bed)
-Fox 2 or 2.5" x18 air shocks (for load/towing)
-requisite on board Nitrogen tank
-Locked offroad 2.5 x 2-4" bumps
-Ruffstuff antiwrap kit (hopefully placement can protect rear driveshaft as well)

For axle upgrades (probably after KOH)
-regear to 4.88 (for towing/future fordeeesss)
-detroit locker
-Small Artec truss
-lugnuts rear disc brake kit with E brake

Front axle hindsight
-needs truss, i drive it like I'm sponsored....
-replace poly bumps with Locked Offroad air bumps
-regear 4.88 for 40s.

Looking for insight on air shock for load/tow concept(seen it done, no first hand experience), shock mounting ideas (u bolt plate, front and back of housing, etc), Locked offroad product reviews, and anything you think I might be missing.

I'd skip the air shock and do bags with the urethane cups on the bottom that catch the bag, but don't attach to it. I was close to doing these on a multipurpose trail rig, and couldn't find anything bad about them.

Never saw those before. That's a good idea!

Can you post your filter setup? Looks like that's what I need to do to keep the 2wd Excursion happy.

No, right when I got back from KOH I bought an Ultra4, so now I'm out of money. I still want to do it, but I don't have the spare cash and the Ultra is hogging the garage space.

Fuel filter setup. I got the efuel parts from Mark Fuzagotto, the hose and AN fittings from Summit and just bought a superduty fuel pump online. I hate how all the ricer diesels hang their filters down below the frame rail, so I mounted them sideways. Works great.

How do plan to tune your shocks with leafs, bypasses and air shock that you are constantly changing pressure?

"The gram" has really replaced my build thread habits. Sad but true, Pirate just hasn't kept up with the times. I thrashed and built a bumper before KoH19. A sheet of 1/4" plate, some carboard, and a shit ton of hours later.....

Finished product (for now). I ran out of time for shackle mounts/recovery points. Goals were minimal stick out, flat top for standing (engine repairs, beer shelf) and maximum approach angle. Really happy with it. Weighs 160lb without winch. Spent A LOT of time welding exterior seams with 110v welder, then grinding and sanding to perfection. There is NO bondo on this thing and its pretty clean. I used X Bull fairlead and rope from Amazon and an older Badlands 12k winch.

I don't expect this truck to be a trophy truck, just need it to work well and not fade out. How would you valve your shocks for when the air bags are in play? you wouldn't, right? valve for daily, deal with the rest.

KoH pics, snow across Tehachapi, cougar buttes, talking line selection with Robby Gordon, and towing Robby back to camp after he rolled.

Try to remember us simpletons here on Pirate!

Has Pirate not kept up with the times or have you replaced it with the shiny object of the moment? See if you get that kind of intellectual thinking on the gram

Always enjoyed this build and still do!
