what? shinyboo was POLITE!!!!
no

f-in

way!!!

maybe just maybe there's hope........

if he would just get it, wheelers and motorcycle riders have a hell of a lot more money to spend on camping and such than hippies do, he could open a store at his place and sure as shit i would love to be
able to make a 10 minute trip from the camping area to there than the 1hr plus trip back and forth to shell...... just sayin'
plus i would rather pay to park my trailer and truck in the area just above shineyboo than over at the other staging area where no one is watching. even more income that he wouldn't have to spend anything to make. even better a little store for beer/ice/forgotten crap before heading in.....

if he want's some more positive response, then if he could post a sign saying "hey all 4wheelers, please stay to the right to preserve the sledding area we have created, thanks and hope to see ya soon". not everyone is on pirate and sooner or later someone is gonna wheel in the wrong area.

Next time I wheel 4dice I will see if Shinyboo has space to park my tow rig. Would love to use his parking area for a nominal fee if he treats us respectfully. I also like the idea of renting a cabin for the spouse while were out on the trail.

Cheers

Perhaps he should choose a better place to make a sledding area for his customers. Making the sledding area in the middle of a public road is probably a bad choice.

I have not seen this myself, only going off what's posted. But from the sound of it, it's business as usual with shinneyboo.

that's another good idea. the wife would love a "clean and bug + bear free" area to hang out with her friends at while we are wheeling. she really hates it when we leave camp and they stay back at camp even for an hour and even if she has an escape vehicle. if we spend a couple days on the trail, they could stay back at the cabin 'sippin wine and such and use the tow rig to explore/drive around in.

There has been stuff w/Shineyboo going on this year (unrelated to wheelers).

I think he actually leasing it to another company now...

Caltrans has refused to plow the road up to his property for the last few years.... So he has been plowing it himself. This is where some "issues" arose a few years ago with wheelers parking their tow rigs on the public road that he was plowing. Some discussion went on & he worked it out with the wheeling community.

He has been hosting "Mountain Vibe" music festival for the last 2 years which is promoted by some avid wheelers & they have helped him out a bunch.

Here is the latest problems:
Since Caltrans kept refusing to plow the public road, he has been rather vocal with his complaints directed at Caltrans.
Welp, the weekend before New Years Eve, Caltrans showed up with a bunch of Tow-Trucks & CHP officers. They towed all the cars parked on the "public" road (which he plowed). Their excuse was that they couldn't plow said road so they had the cars towed because they were illegally parked on a public road. The cars belonged to all the people staying in the Cabins... Leaving them stranded there (some with little kids).

We ran into Mike on Saturday as well. Initially he was upset but calmed down and later apologized for his initial approach. What MochaMike said above is mostly what Mike (Shinneyboo) was saying to us. What he was basically asking is for the Vehicles to stay on the North (Hill side) of the road leaving the other side for the snowmobiles to use as transport to and from the 'parking' area at the top of the hill-- he said he had rolled his snowmobile with his kids on it by hitting a rut that a vehicle had made. I think I made the point mostly clear that as random visitors, without any signage or any other way of knowing (and I had actually been on his web site within the previous week), I had no way of knowing this, and to be upset with me is kind of pointless. I had/have no problems with what he is asking, just no way of knowing it beforehand. I know he is frustrated with Wheelers/Caltrans/Country Gov't, and I feel (somewhat) for a small business owner, but approaching folks in an aggressive manner does little to help himself or his cause. After all of his guest's vehicles were towed, he says he thought he was going to be out of business, but is starting up a new company with the property and hopes he will be able to start again. I think he needs to REALLY re-think his overall approach to how he wants to operate a business, given the right-of-way to OHV that he seems to want to fight instead of market too.

He also said that he won't come back here (Pirate) due to some serious threats placed against him from folks here.

Wow even during the video he's still blameing the 4 Wheelers. He gets what he deserves. I don't feel sorry for someone like that.

i just wish someone here had the money to buy it from 'boo. take that "mountain vibe" bullshit and kick them down the road. i love how f-in hippies come to the woods, do a bunch of X, blast concert level music all f-in night that can be heard for miles around, leave trash and everything else, then complain that our trucks driving on a road are disturbing the wildlife. the feds need to raid that shit when it goes on. i personnaly have had to pick up trash after a big 'rage' party last year at 'boo's place. my sympathy for him and his 'PLIGHT' is gone.

all in all, he should have realized that there was a federal right of way through his property when he bought it. he has bitched and moaned ever since then. he mother-f's the cops when they are against him, but doesn't fail to call on thier 'protection' or flat out break the law and have drug induced parties whenever he sees fit. he has earned a "chicken little" reputation with them. the second video proves it.

After viewing those, it isn't hard to understand why a normally reasonable person might feel the urge to thump him a couple of times.

From Yelp.......

They cancelled my stay on the afternoon of arrival and insisted they would still charge me! The new owner has no idea. He called me on the afternoon of my arrival and told me the government had shut down his business. When I called back about charges he insisted that he would still charge me the full ~$1200 because he needed to feed his family. He tried to explain that the prior owner and the local tow company were colluding against him and that he planned a law suit to recover MY damages (rather than just refund me and accept that even if this conspiracy theory were true then these were HIS damages). When I told him politely that he still needs to take care of his customers in situations like this he told me to F*ck off and hung up on me. Whatever you do, do not put yourself alone in the woods with this psycho. I don't care how great the property is. You are heading for a nightmare!

After watching those vids, I'd say stay to the left on that road and be sure to use it all!

wow. just watched that video and have now changed my mind about Mike and his intentions. He is getting what he deserves. He believes he owns the road all the way to the highway and can regulate who comes and goes.

This will be a NICE bank owned property sometime soon and "we" the 4x4 community should start the process now to aquire it! That place would be BADASS for wheelin!!!

I'm In!

i wondered when you would change your mind....... nice that you believe in folks and for that i commend you. just that dude is a LITTLE PSHYCO!
i had a run-in last year with him trying to do a little snow wheeling, i was nice and respectful and he was a full on asshole. he was all pissy that we drove up to the entrance to fordyce, found we couldn't get in (snow was too deep only got in about 100 yards) and were turning around to get back out (we were no where near his property or 'the boo), when he rolls up on his snow blower and starts flipping the fuck out. long story short, had a long talk with an officer after 'mike' left, they are just as tired of him as we are. he calls constantly (think chicken little), but when the need arrises he blocks the road to incoming traffic mainly to keep the cops away. to thier credit they try and work with him, but he has called foul way to many times. in the end, he should have researched all the mineral rights/right of way easments BEFORE he bought it. like i said on my thread, if he had probably opened his eyes and saw all the money rolling by on the road through his land he could have capitalized on it AND made some good coin to boot'. but all he saw was a racist style hate twards the 4wheelers.
he also gets pissed that folks go shooting on the federal land near his property. well, i never even knew where his 'campsites' were. maybe if he had posted 'please no shooting, campsites near' signs a long time ago and maybe educated folks near there then there wouldn't have been a problem. as far as i know most folks can't read minds....

He just didn't seem like such a douche when he first got the property.... but it didn't take very long for his tune to change. Now the boys that were sub letting it last year are friends and sounded like they were going to make it happen right.... Never did make it this summer though.

I have talked to a couple CHP buddies of my dad who is PCSO and they say this guy is nuts. It's crazy to hear how he just rolls up on people and flips out. In all the trips I have made up there I am shocked I have never ran into him, not sure how that would end for him so I am glad.

Even back in the day before I had a built rig we always cruised by the boo not knowing what it was to use the dirt trail that goes down the mountain towards pierce to camp and still no run ins. Sounds like he will lose everything any way. Something tells me he will still hang around a f with all of us either way

The first time I met him, we were on a horrific club run where nearly 2 club members died just before driveline hill. The snow fell so hard and fast we got back to our towrigs with 5+ft of snow covering everything.
He pulls up and flips the F-out as well. Crazy style...

Then we actually spent the night up at his cabins with a group of friends and all he talked about was this utopian compound that he had this huge vision for. I looked on Corperation wiki and noticed he was a continueing supporter of the National Republicans. kinda strange having those views and not voting for libs.

Well needless to say, if we were able to pick this thing up as a bank owned, the CHP, Caltrans and the like, would probably join us...
