Music festival at the trail

Anyone ever experienced this rain water festival up here? I am shocked that a few people driving trucks down a trail are demonized while these people building stages, setting up tents, trashing the land, and doing more drugs than a pharmacy has on hand are exempt from judgement?

There is something very wrong with what is going on here. I was told by one guy that if I didn't have a wristband it was on as long as "I came from nature". How are we the bad guys here?

Had one at Shinneyboo a couple of years ago. Google doesn't know anything about rain water festival out this way, just in Texas.

I don't think that crap is happening anymore since I believe shineyboo is not really open for business, I could be wrong.

But yes it's a big Fawk feet with drug addicts running around trashing the place.

I was up there last weekend and they had a bunch of hippies running all over at some festival.

made getting the truck and trailer out of the parking lot interesting to say the least.

But we didnt stick around to hear any music. and the entire thing is right my 80 so you dont get affected by any tree huggers out on the trail.

There was some music festival at Shinneyboo two weekends ago. (Now called Stone Bear Cabins or something). They denied me entrance to the Pierce OHV area telling me it was private property. I went in the other way to camp, and had to listen to their weird music from 7:00Pm to 7:00am 3 nights in a row.
Had a run-in with the owner when we wheeled up at midnight to see what it was all about. With his attitude, we turned around at went back to camp.

Sounds like he's back to his old shenanigans then.

Glad I missed it. Went down to committee and watched a few rigs on about 42s cross. Way too deep for me.pushed their trucks around a bit. Had to redo the patch on the sidewall of my tire while I was there too

I don't think his shenanigans have ever changed.

So a quick update (apparently there is cell service on the trail now, drunken postings are apparently fair game per my 1 am posting...)

We weren't "on the trail" but went left at the fork right after the eagle lakes road lot. I am not sure what it is called, but there are signs for an OHV area.

We camped right by the river (huge mistake...) and had to deal with these incredibly rude people walking through our camp all day long. We were awoken at 6am when the dog went crazy because there was someone literally standing in the middle of our camp in a hoodie... he ran up some rocks when we let the dog out of the tent, not realizing there was someone IN CAMP with us, strange is an understatement.

Of all of the people we encountered, most were pretty rude, some tried to do yoga in the middle of our camp and didn't understand why we asked them to relocate as my friend's young kids were walking around...

We ran into one group that was very nice and respectful. They told us that this is an annual festival usually held in Santa Cruz (surprise surprise...) and that it was moved up here for the first year, and they think it is moved up there for good. Oh joy...

I wish I would have been able to record my whole "run in" with them a few weeks ago. It was really really hard to keep my cool.

Those freaks aren't hippies, they're perverts

But, if the facebook "gonna be there" posts are accurate, the thing would have grossed over $125K. That's a pretty good pervert industry.

A music festival years ago ruined one of our (used to be) favorite camping spots on the coast. Now the place is always trashed, loud and rude people and people practically living there... Sad

Sorry to drudge this up, was just wondering... there were gates, etc. that they had locked so that we couldn't go in without a wristband, is this private land? or is this a BLM property that they got permission to use? Who could I call to get some information? Anyone know?

If it's the gate off of eagle lakes to the old shinneyboo cabins yes that is private property. If there was a gate blocking eagle lakes road itself that is illegal as that is all our public road.

Send dates and times with a detailed description of what you saw and email Lyle at nevada county code enforcement. If they are doing these events with out a permit or breaking the rules of a permit the county and sheriff must be notified, but verify in email with Lyle first.

Thanks. It wasn't blocking an actual road, it was off the road down the trail but the "OHV" area, can't recall the name. I guess it could be those cabins, wasn't really sure what area it was in specifically.

There is an easement and dirt road that goes down the side of the mountain towards the pierce creek OHV area at the end of eagle lakes road passed the snow removal equipment. To my knowledge that can't be blocked but verify with Lyle or I can ask him? I know that dirt road passes a couple gates that would be to your right as you head down but shouldn't be anything else.
