Lookin' at Trek 2014

So after staying away from Sierra Trek for many years I was thinking of going this year.

I would want to register early to be able to get in closer to the front of the pack.. still works that way? right?

I heard the route has been shortened ?? something about comes in about where the old committee trail used to? If it was shortened, why?

I went to CA4WDC and there is close to zero info on route or actually anything of substance regarding the event. how do I pick my "trail" based on some random name given on registration form?

Eric

Hey Eric,

I am the Sierra Trek 2014 Event Chair and I am very glad to hear that you are considering coming back to the event.

As you probably can tell registration is currently open at Sierra Trek - Event Registrations. Your order in the run is determined by your arrival time at the staging location. If you would like to add an additional run to your registration you will be given priority based on your registration date if the run fills up and starts to sell out. You have options listed to register online or you may download and fill out the registration form.

I am not sure which run you heard was shortened. The runs vary in length so there is something for everyone. The full trail will take all day whereas one of the River Runs will only take you a few hours. We also have many runs that vary in technical difficulty. The best way to choose a run is the click on "Run Descriptions" on the Sierra Trek Menu. Run Descriptions - California Association of 4WD Clubs, Inc..

Thank you for posting up the questions and keep them coming. Contact information for my co-chair and me is listed if you would like to email or call directly. Also, let us know what additional information you would like to see out on the Cal4 website as well as what you would like us to post up here.

More information is also available at our facebook page. www.facebook.com/SierraTrek

It just isn't a proper Sierra Trek unless you see an Early Bronco pulled to the side overheated, waiting to cool down.

...of course, I've seen broken Jeeps, Fords, Toyotas, Scouts, and even (gasp!) Isuzus, too. Fordyce appears to be equal-opportunity in terms of breakage.

Welcome to Pirate4x4, Amy.

And it isn't a proper Pirate4x4 thread unless someone talks a little trash.

Thank you Randii. All these years of only reading the board....now I'm one of you. Crap!

Haha Tom! You might not be able to pronounce my screen name but it can't be nearly as bad as what our DJ did to your name last year! It is wino but so much better when spelled like Bordeaux. I do love my red wine and the screen name stuck years ago.

Steve, don't be bitter just because I'm his favorite Trek Chair.

If you are in Eric, I will be in...

I have never been on Trek, but I have heard thru the rumor mill that this one may be the best one yet because of all that is planned for this year..

I live near Fordyce (Sierraville) run Fordyce a lot, always avoided Sierra Trek because I thought it would be a shit show like jeepers jamboree with a bunch of rules and tools, but accidentally showed up last year during the event, had a great time, the organizers were super friendly and invited us to partake in the events, very relaxed atmosphere, did some late night winch hill runs. Definitely will go this year. Very cool event

When you send in your money, it has nothing to do with where you are in the pack. Where you are in the pack is based on how early you get to staging in the morning.

I'm starting to think staging position might be determined by arrival time.

So '14 Trek is fast approaching. Better do a good check on your rig and start getting camping supplies together. What run is everyone doing and when is everyone showing up at base camp ? I will be at main camp the Monday before Trek starts.
